Good point. Can you imagine if they'd given this to Shayne or Journey South? Even if they'd given it to any of the other guys I'm sure there would've been the odd comments about sexism flying about.

No, I don't think even a Stones song would be capable of that great feat

Yes but this song is definitely about black slave girls and the "services" they were expected to supply for their "masters". My dad has a taped interview with the Stones where a couple of them say as much.

Well actually I think you may find it is still offensive with her singing it.. in fact even more so... singing about young black slaves being used for sex... yes a SHOW stopper!!! well done the Osborne Team. Mind you is Satisfaction any better.... ha ha

Or maybe it's Sharon's sickest publicity stunt to date.

One thing's for sure. It throws Maria's credibility as a rock chick and a Stones fan out of the window. She was obviously not aware of the lyrics and I'm surprised that she's not bright enough for it to dawn on her what they're very clearly about. She seems like quite a bright girl (well, bright enough to get into one of the best state schools in west London).

Brown Sugar was all Micks work, he wrote it when he was out in Oz on his own.. from what I have read - it was essentially what you have said but also sort of sideways mentions of drugs as well..
