I am pleased Steve is happy, what you cannot get your heads round is it has a made a mockery of this show, the winner last year is now back in pubs AND he is.. Butlins is not a bad venue, I know I have been. He may be making an album who is going to pay to get it into the shops. We can hope someone will. I can also see why people are saying they do not want their favs to win as the runners up from last year HAVE done much better and no one not even a Steve fan can deny that. That is maybe not Steves fault.. but who do you blame, certainly not Louis Walsh he has come up trumps with G4 and I think the new album will prove that point as well. Someone let Steve down as someone let Michelle McManus down.. or were they just not right for the market out there today as you have to consider that look at the charts..

A very good post GG. Unfortunately, there is a tendency for the television voters to be completely different from the music buying public. Although there have been notable exceptions, such as Will Young and the not very nice Girls Aloud, the average television viewer very often picks someone who is safe 'middle of the road' because it fits into their comfort zone of what they understand and know. This is very probably why the emphasis in this series is on singers that fall into that category.
As has often been said by many before me, the voters that get involved in the programme plus many who just watch and don't vote are only interested in the show on their screen on a Saturday night. There may be a knock on effect of people wanting to see the tour but the true reality of these shows is that, more often than not, once the show and the tour has finished so has their interest in the winner.
If the people who profess to be supporting their favourite don't bother to hand money over the counter to buy CDs then ultimately what has happened to Steve and Michelle etc., will be true of every winner of a programme of this type
