When you gonna realise the only winners on X Factor are the judges. They make a fortune out of this programme - do you think they really care about the people at the end of the day....I doubt it and Steve just proves it.

Even Will Young - would have disappared if he hadn't been picked up by a brilliant producer - and that would have been tragic.

The music business is hard - takes a lot of courage to get up and start again so how about giving the guy a break - then there are no real losers except the people dishing out the dirt!!!

What a fabulous post. Well said Moonie. Ditto to all that.

A very good post MK

In referenece to your last paragraph as you say the music business is hard and wheather we love or loathe artistes, they work hard to achieve their goals.

Thanks Dawn

I will try the webcam for the Keifer appearance also. But as you said if it's not open to the general public then it's doubtful we will be able to watch by webcam either

Butlins don't book big acts - big acts book Butlins out of season for convention style gigs.

That is absolute tosh. Butlins book the big acts as good business sense. Who the hell wants to go to a seaside holiday camp in the depths of winter. Nobody, but if you supply top notch entertainment you will sell out. The winter season is aimed at an entirely different guest than the summer bucket and spade brigade

Actually I think you will find ICGenie is correct THE acts book to be at Butlins.. or their management do.. Butlins do not ring up Louis and SAY hey send us Girls Aloud for Bonfire Night, which is one of the biggest long weekend Minehead do in the winter.. they had Will, Gareth and Zoe there.. Ronan.. Blue.. different years but all the weekend nearest to GuyFawkes.

Through the summer check them out.. they have not got such big acts.. Mind you are any of these BIG acts.. really mega selling million album artists... NO they are not POINT made. This lot are playing the lesser popular weekends.. and wonder if like the others mentioned they will have a sell out venue.. somehow cannot see it myself. Have they had to put them all on the same weekend.. oh dear that says even more that they have had to do that to try and sell the arena out.. tent whatever you like to call it.

Exactly what I was thinking K. The post just didn't make any sense to me. I was going to ask ICGenie if they could explain the post in more detail as to what they meant.

However your post has explained enough for me

I have to be honest, the post ( not yours ) just sounded like another let's find another way to diss Steve post, as it made little sense to me.

GET REAL PEOPLE!

Butlins is a lame venue, it's the bottom of the barrel and is a euphamism for Celebrity Hell.

Nobody wants to end up there, not even the guests.

Please don't be so presumptious as to tell us to get real.

Ok you don't like Steve, I really don't give two hoots if you like him or not. I find a lot of the Steve loathers posts on here funny in all honesty. Most of the thread has had me in stitches Some of the stuff they are coming up with to explain away their loathing.

I'm sorry but somebody making a comment that Butlins books decent acts and not being ripped to shreds by other people on the thread is just pure insanity.

I was just remarking that such a comment should not go unpunished.

I've been quite good as I've resisited the temptation to post on here as I knew what it would be like. All I can say is if Steve dissers are still taking the time out to start and reply to threads about him he is still having an impact

And to the original OP, I cannot wait to go to the "smelly pub" aka The Bedford, (which incidentally has been a music venue for generations) on the 22nd. I am finally going to see Steve live and that is all I'm bothered about

Saw Will Young and Gareth Gates at Butlins. At least one of them is famous!

(Not my choice to go before anyone asks)

Sorry, it's not tosh at all. And it's not just big acts either. Butlins is available for any act (or promotion company) to hire throughout the closed season. Some acts will advertise publicly in conjunction with Butlins. Some sell places through their fan clubs. My favourite band Marillion have done two conventions at Butlins and one at Pontins. I'm pretty good friends with their manager, and I know for a fact that she approached Butlins, not the other way round.

Good grief.

Having opinions on an act is fine but why on earth are people arguing about Butlins in an X-Factor thread.

Gosh, I have opened a kettle of worms.

I am sure the Bedford is a great music pub, I was just stating that after 3 months of live TV, it must be pretty hard especially after winning to then perform at a pub venue . At the time of competing the contestants can't help but be carried along by the hype that the media interest creates around them. Quite frankly anything after that would be a let down, but as was mentioned earlier by another post, this business is bloody tough, and really is not big enough for everyone to have the success of the big artists.

I am sure that Steve, without continued mega success, is still earning a far better living than prior to the X Factor, and for that I am sure he is grateful.

I would hope and am sure that some of the current contestants (who have their head in the right place) do not all expect to be huge if they win, but that they would hope for a modest improvement in their earning potential within this business. We must remember that success is not necessarily measured in every contestants eyes by mega record sales, for in their heart of hearts they must know that this is unlikely to happen to but a few of them, but by an increased earning capacity at venues etc.

I wish Steve and all past and present contestants the best for the future, and congratulations for getting out there to try and achieve their dream.

The Bedford isn't like an ordinary pub. There is a saloon bar which is just like a traditional pub bar but beyond that is the 'Shakespearean Globe Theatre' and that is where Steve will be performing. It's hard to describe but it's over 2 levels, doughnut shaped and you can look down through a hole in the top level to the stage on the bottom. I think it holds about 300 people. They also have a ballroom there and another smaller music room.

Thanks, their website does not do it justice.
