You can't say he looked like JT just cause he had his hair shaved...When we first saw him, he had the same style and no one said anything.

What's with the dancing though?
He doesn't need to do that. Far too much like JT for my liking. As Simon Cowell said, having the X Factor is about being different. Is Shayne different? I don't think he is. |

I heard Shayne sing this for the first time tonight and although i thought it sounded ok, i also though he looked and sounded like he was just Impersonating JT.I didn't see any of his own stamp on it and i think that's where he's lacking, he needs more originality. Maybe it's just me but i too like artists who write there own material because i think that gives them the edge when it comes to putting their stamp on a cover song. As someone said earlier in this thread it also makes you more interested in hearing their original work, hence more chance of people buying an album by them rather than an album full of covers.

Personally I have no problem with people singing other people's songs - as long as they do it well. Better that than sing your own original stuff that is quite frankly very poor.

I like Shayne and I think he has a great voice. However, he cannot sing high notes and I really can't bear it when he does because it hurts my ears.

I think Shayne is getting particularly targeted for being a JT rip off because he is singing the song in exactly the same way JT sang it, is using similar dance moves and has a similiar look - because of the nature of the show everyone has to cover other artists material, the key I think is trying to make the song your own not just doing a good imitation of the original

It's a total copy! |

Besides which; Shayne has already demonstrated he can't hit the high notes required for that song, so I think he's setting himself up to come over like a poor imitation of Justin Timberlake. Sharon will love it, regaurdless, but Simon may well get out his claws tonight, IMO.... |

I dont see the problem with his choice of song if thats what he wants to do, and i dont expect he will be leaving tonight either.

That has got to influence the judges overall view of him (well, Simon actually, given Sharon is smitten) which may be a problem for him later if/when Simon is trying to chose between, for example, Maria and Shayne.
