It been a great srory but i am really that Chrissie didnt escape it would have been better if she ran off and started a new life

If ya ask me Chrissie has been the best Character in Eastenders all year i am to be seeing her to leave but i also think that NANA is a legend and she shouldnt die

This is all tue, but its still a shame he got bumped off though. It wouldve been great to see him fronting up to grant for stitching phil up. It was a waste of an iconic character, but i have enjoyed this plot.

I agree.

Den and Dennis vs Phil and Grant would have been priceless.

Maybe he's not really dead again...lol.

What you don't know is that she does escape through some work of genious. Think of it,, there's no evidence at all of Chrissie doing it. She could just say I didn't and it would get thrown out of court because of no DNA or prints on the murder weapon. Simple, that's how Tracey-anne said that she may be coming back in the future

I think killing him off was a stupid, vindicative decision from a producer looking to a mark, appease the tabloids and deliver a cheap rating boost for the 20th anniversary. I believe Grantham was fined, suspended and had to apolgise to the cast for what happened, he didn't need to have his character killed off as well.

Whatever Grantham did has nothing to do with the character. If anything Den was popular despite Grantham, who never seemed interested nor dedicated to the show since he returned. That didn't stop Den being probably the only interesting character during the whole Berriage era. Not perfect, but the best there was, and by some way. Despite having his return marred by the start of the dreaded Shannis...

Leading up to his death Den was written completely out of character, and the whole murder plot seems to have been very badly planned, as some developments seemed truly desparate (a recent example: the confession video). His murder seemed designed to belittle the show's most legendary character, an amazingly shortsighted move. A dog-shaped doorstop. Buried next to the drains. Involving Zoe Slater. Pathetic.

Just my opinion of course. The show has been very good since the Mitchells returned though.

Just read somewhere that Den is making another comeback, it wasnt really him who had his skull caved in. When Chrissie looked away to get the doorstop to hit the body for the second time, a lookalike was thrown into the frey and old reptile features legged it over to Pat's, to cut a long story short they got down to it on pats kitchen floor and Pat (suprisingly not yet gone thru the change at 63) secretly had Den's baby, they called it Den III, it's this baby that will not only rule Walford, but will also rule the world, as he, is the one, the one and the only Anti-Christ!!

DenIII is currently living in a purpose-built nursey inside Charlied Shed! Den is sheduled for a return on Christmas Day! Sorry about the ''spoiler''!!!!

But bringing back Den didn't work at all. All the critics and even some EE crew admitted it was a mistake courtesy of Berridge

Its six of one and half a dozen really because yes Den was fantastic and brought a lot of Drama and action to EE (inculding Chrissie) but also this year has been fantastic in general for the show and Den's death and the subsequent plot has been amazing. Just hope they can keep it up!

I think the main problem was that having gone to all of the trouble of actually bringing him back, they hadn't got a clue what to do with him.

Den setting up Phil was good, but to kill Den off before the showdown between the two of them was incredibly stupid and shortsighted. I agree with the poster who said it was a short-term ratings grabber, a desperate need for something big for the 20th anniversary.

(They did write Den out of character, purposely, then leaked it to the press. I still remember the story being major news in the Sun with their "Most hated man in Britain" headline. Wasn't it the front page story?)

Still, killing him off has provided a lot of the good storylines this year, so bringing him back did work.

I don't think bringing back Den was a mistake per se. The episodes dealing with his return were great, but after he set Phil up the scriptwriters didn't know what to do with him, and he was given rubbish to do like fannying about with the cardboard funfair thing. Once he was back in the Vic his character started to come back into his own, and then that silly tart Kathleen Hutchinson bollocksed up the character with the Zoe/pregnancy thing.

Even so, I've always said Den was the best thing by far about the last couple of years of EE.
