I've just been browsing the Eastenders site looking for ways to write to the actors and I noticed a little backstage fact, Lacey Turner originally auditioned for a part in the Miller family. I'm glad she never got it, because the Slater's are well better than the Millers and who would she have played? Demi? Not her sort of character I dont think.

Yes. She wouldn't have made a good Demi and Shana does a great job with her so it's good as it is. The character of Stacey was partly created for Lacey which is probably why she is so good.

Are you trying to say that she is playing herself

How good did Stacey look yesterday at her birthday!? She was well fit. She's lost some weight and it looks wonderous.

Yeah definitely, she looks so much better than when she first arrived.

Well lets face it she's now a good year and a half older than when she first arrived - so she's gonna naturally look more mature! I know what you mean though - he was looking much more adult than previous months!

Considering how much the character has evolved (and how seamless and natural that evolution has been) she could hardly be accused of playing herself.

From The Guardian November 2004:
'She hit the screen with so much confidence,' declares Kathleen Hutchison, executive producer of EastEnders. 'This girl is just going to get better and better.'

She did look absolutely gorgeous in Thursday's episode. That's what maturity does for a girl. She should have more birthday parties

I can't imagine Lacey playing Demi. Demi is a good character but compared to Stacey, she is a bit dry - even though she is a teenage mum and comes from a family of maniacs!

Stacey, on the otherhand, well do I need to carry on?
