ROFL.

My point exactly. He is hardly going to give an interview and say any of that! He may secretly think it, but why would he also kick them when they are down. If you can't depend on your family and friends what hope do you have.

I can just see it now...'Yes my girls are a load of cack. Put us all out of our misery and send them home so they can get a decent job instead of following this stupid dream'

Yep....that's what dad's are for!

I dont think any dad would be that cruel, but I also dont think he should be spouting about with the right songs they could WIN.. as I think that is CACK..

The Wrong Song excuse is certainly a handy one. But if his theory is correct, then using the same argument, surely if the Conways had the right song they could have a hit in Britain without X Factor. They write their own songs, don't they? Obviously such songs aren't good enough to get them recognized in this country without having to go on a TV talent comp.

The truth of the matter, in my opinion, is that the Conway Sisters are not going to win for lots of reasons. In no particular order:

a) they aren't very attractive - successful girl groups are almost always sexy and/or feisty. They've been compared to The Corrs but let's face it - the Corrs were well known for being beauties as well as their music

b) their sound just isn't funky (and therefore modern) enough

c) they've done a bit too much complaining now to endear themselves enough.”

I really like them and thought they were clearly the best on Saturday night. I think the song choice thing is a very valid excuse. their song this week is just horrible. It's a good song but it's not a well known song. Fast paced and very good with it having been originally dont by The Wilson Pickets which would be easily swapped to the Conways but i dont see it going down well as it's not a well known song.

Last weeks song i thought was amazing and I knew it was a barry manilow song but I'd never heard it before....it was pretty great though.

People seem to be forgetting that they have not been in the bottom 2 once, they must be getting a fair bit of consistent support from somewhere I can't see them polling in the last 2 this week when is still Chico and Nicholas in the competition.

I love this week's song, they chose it themselves and so I would imagine hqave been singing it together for a long time. Chico v Nicholas for me this week.

The only problem with the Conways is that they are 9 years out of date.

If they were the "entertainment" on my cruise I would throw myself overboard.

Yeah daddy, his re-dial button must be completely worn and goodness knows how much his phone bill is

Seriously though, that's true they have not been in the bottom two, I honestly can't understand why, to me its a mystery ???

Mystery SOLVED.. all of Ireland are backing them.. DADDY, Louis and SC on redial as well as Westlife lads...

I cannot understand why they have not gone home yet either.. and cannot see them not being in the bottom.. as I am pretty sure that Chico will not be and I hope he is not either.. so if he is not and they are not WHO else will be ................. SHOCK **DRUM**ROLL** PAUSE wait for it.. Kates face falls as she calls the last one in as safe.. and we are left with on the stage.

Brenda and Maria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Judges wailing and crying... well Sharon is what a night that would be eh!!!!

They are rubbish and should have gone two weeks ago. Vocally they are weak and their harmonies are off key. Even Louis struggles to say anything positive about them and he knows their parents. It doesn't matter what song they are given they just cannot cut the mustard.

Yes, I just listened to their clips on their website and I'd agree with this statement. My ears hurt now but that might be due to the tight headphones, possibly.

Louis struggles to say anything good about them coz all his acts are worse and Simon is actually honest. Louis has no choice but to rip Simon's acts to shreds even if, like last saturday, they had the best performance of the night

that being said i still think Eskimo Blonde should have made the finals over Conways or Adictive Ladies

Exactly! THAT is my point, which has been missed by several people on here (probably because of the title of the thread - OK, I was having a bit of fun there and exaggerating).

Of course he should support his girls and be proud of them, I just think that saying they could win with the right song in the national press is a meaningless comment that I don't think will do them any favours. What is the right song? One they sing in tune? I don't know about anyone else but I don't vote on song choice alone. If they are good singers then they should be able to sing a song in tune - and Simon isn't going to give them something that they aren't capable of singing in tune because he'd look stupid. The performance is up to them. If it's a song I really like and it's sung badly or so-so, then that is much more likely to prevent me from voting. And have the song choices been so wrong??? I mean it's not like they've been in the bottom two, is it! I just think making a big deal about the song choice and the argument with Simon isn't going to endear you to people voting; well it doesn't wash with me, anyway.

He's a show biz dad, spangled blinkers firmly in place just like any doting parent whose little darling is up there performing. Looking for impartiality from a show biz mum or dad is like expecting sympathy from Simon Cowell because you 'had the wrong song'.
He'd do well to keep his thoughts to himself though, didn't he learn anything from Philip's experience. His mother was all over the place criticising Louis and his song choices etc and lo and behold Philip was made to take a hike that very week, and Louis didn't look too unhappy to see him go either.

I don't expect impartiality, but I would have thought he'd be a bit more savvy about the business. His other daughter disagreed with Simon saying the girls were out of tune in places. Fair enough they think that (although I agree with Simon) but to say it in the national press is stupid. Philip is indeed a case in point. Simon is always going to have more people wanting to watch him than the conways - even if you don't like Simon he is good entertainment.

I think every dad/mum in this situation will think their daughters/sons are the best so he thinks his daughters are the best
