Humax PVR 9200T
I've had the 9200T about a week, and have found it generally very good indeed. But the following would improve it greatly-
1 Chase play (to watch, form the beginning, a scheduled recording while it is still in progress) 2 Much faster refresh of the EPG or permanent storage, with automatic updates at frequent intervals 3 Easy autopadding of start as well as stop times (or, at least, if the start time is moved back in the Programme Schedule entry, the name shouldn't change to the previous programmes) 4 Don't lose buffer when switching channels 5 Ability to record radio from standby (odd that this works only for TV- especially as display indicates recoreding is in progress) |

My top 5 fits in pretty closely with many others:
1. Autopadding at start and end of recording 2. Ability to search through a program currently being recorded 3. Faster and error checked USB transfer to PC 4. Increased number of program slots 5. Keep program buffer after changing channels |

I only have 1 item for the wishlist to be added to what everybody else wants. this request comes from my 10 year old son
![]() The ability to view 1 channel through the scart and another channel through the coax. This would allow him to watch his CBBC, CITV etc in his bedroom whilst I watch what ever I want in the living room. Prob not something that could be done via a software update, but something to think about

Showing a different channel via the scart to that on the coax would require two MPEG2 decoders and two TV encoders. The Humax 9200T only has one.
You just need another cheap STB for the bedroom. Ian |

My main request is for Humax to lobby the broadcasters to implement a reliable PDC (automatically detects start & end of each programme) - far better than any auto-padding could ever be.
Second, an end to freezes and lockups. Apart from those, no surprises in my list: 1. Auto-padding 2. Chase Play 3. More than 20 items in record list 4. Organise recorded programmes into folders, e.g. Films / Kids / etc. 100 hours becomes v. unwieldy. 5. don't lose buffer when you switch channels, just buffer whatever mix of channels you've watched in the last 2 hours Last edited by simon101 : 26-03-2006 at 20:14. Reason: thought of something else. |

Ah well, I suppose looking to the future every room with a TV will have to have its on box, suppose I should stop being a tight ass and get the wallet out. :P
May as well get that mast head booster at the same time

Apart from the usual stuff - auto padding, chase play e.t.c.
I would like to see the following: The ability to disable the buttons on the front of the box - except maybe the power button. My one year old daughter keeps pressing the buttons and recording cbeebies (assuming the box hasn't already locked up). On the remote control the record buton and the red interactive button should not be next to each other . It's very easy to press the wrong one. Also the recorded programme listing button should be moved out from under the flap. |

*(i) button on remote control allows you to see the now/next for all others channels while watching one, like this you don't have to change channel to see what on the others. (like all other cheap freeview boxes does, this is a classic option)
* Chase play * EPG on HDD * Better USB compatibility with PC (software) * Fixe Lost Recording |

And we all would like a better USB, I got this from Humax re it; USB transfer is important, however it is sometimes not a clear indication of what the majority of our customers require as there is only a small percentage of customers who use this facility. It will be dealt with but unfortunately is not a major priority at this time. So if we all write to them and ask, maybe it will get sorted faster............ |

Dont worry if its the same as others, just get it down and then we can see what the common top 5 ones are! If you have a whole load of suggestions please see the main Wish List thread here The top 5 items from everyone can be categarised and summarised every now and then. A new thread like this can be started following the next update, as there may be wish list items that become extinct! Thanks Brian |

Does anyone know if the 8000T is 'dead' as far as updates go now or is it worth suggesting improvements for that too (it's nearly a 12 month since that had an update.) There's no point in starting a new thread for that if it isn't going to happen, but it would be nice to know one way or the other. Perhaps those who liaise with Humax could find out.
There's still at least one bug fix required to sort out Never Ending Recordings when a recording has been started after a playback but hasn't been properly stopped. Perhaps that list if recordings that comes up after playback could have could have a quick select key to call it right away like the 9200T has. |

Top 5 Items.
1) More programs displayed in EPG - could be easily done by moving the things at the top of the screen around. 2) Faster loading of the EPG when view it - as often to have to switch to that channel to load the data. 3) Watch program whilst still recording it. 4) More than 20 timers - it was a pain at Christmas. 5) Being able to record all occurences of a program, on a channel, any channel. 3) |

Thanks Brian Why not! ![]() I dont think Humax are going to look at any more while doing what they have on their current top 10 to go through over the next few months. Would it be better to do a fresh one once thats done so we will know where we are and what we've got? |

I find that now we have got this update, and also having the 9200 for about 4 months my wish list has somewhat altered. This may be true of other users. Brian. |

NOW : 12:55-13:55 - ER NEXT : 13:56-14:50 - Trisha Without goin to the guide and if you press the direction button up or down you can see the same for the others channel without changing channels like this you see while watching a movie if there is samething else on the others channels. And it will be great to have a button which remember the last channel you whent like this you can change between 2 channels with just 1 button. |

I dont think it would take much to give the list button the 'next' as well as 'now' programme info for all channels. For now though, using the guide is the only way to keep viewing current channel and seeing now andnext on all the others really. Does anyoneelse think the list button should have 'next'info too?

I agree it would be useful. I quite liked the way my Fusion box worked for now and next using the small popup at the bottom of the screen and scrolling forward in time or across channels. Much prefer the Humax's guide layout though!

CECEMF, note that if you want to quickly switch between two different channels you can press the 'back' button.

On the software I am testing I note that you can now add extra time to the finish time of a programme that is already recoding at any point while its stil recording. Perhaps someone can confirm, but my recollection is you could only do that on an instant record at the time of pressing record (pressing more than once on the record button) with official software at the moment
