It would be good to have a clean edit point at some stage. It must be possible to set it up such that it removes the deleted part without all the picture and sound break-up. Mustn't it??!

Editing out ad's is not really feasible with the mess it makes at the moment!

I suspect it is not as easy as one might guess.

Editing on my Mac (using MPEGStreamclip) there is a mention of "key frames". As far as I understood it, a number of related frames get grouped together with one key frame and the rest just recording changes to that frame. For editing to be smooth it has to be done at a key frame, and one needs a control (which MPEGStreamclip has) to move to the related key frame.

Too many replies to read just now so I'll just pop my main wish here.

1) I don't know if it's possible but I would like the box to carry on recording to the buffer while in the menu. It may be that it can't for some technical reason but I'd like it not to clear the buffer at all if at all possible.
2) Split the buffer so that it will automatically buffer from two channels.
3) Fix whatever the problem is with interactive TV.
4) Fix the Humax->PC file transfer problems.
5) I would like them to supply some software to repartition the hard disk to remove the MP3 partition.

If they were to sort out those problems I'd be very happy with the machine over all.

I think your No5 Should allow resizing up or down of MP3 partition as several people have requested a larger partition.
Personally, like you I'd remove it.

Top 5 must do's for the Hummy

(1) EPG to 14 Days at least! When you go away sometimes it's more than 7 days
(2) 50+ Programmable Timer Events (increase the EPG, double or treble this)
(3) MP3 scaleable up or down as need / want
(4) TV Guide not to be lost ever time you flip away
(5) Sort out the Media eLinker app & auto naming of recorded programs being unable to be transferred due to 'illegal' characters
(6) Put a DVD Recorder in where that dippy Top Up TV slot is!

I'd like to be able to have directories so I could sort all of my recordings out & the ability to record into the directories.

As a newbie (got mine this past weekend) my top niggles are :
* Access to program synopsis from playlist
* Ability to remove MP3 reserved space
* Make deleting recordings easier
* Store the EPG
* Easier access to playlist
* Ability to re-sequence playlist
* Truncated names in the playlist

Looking at the thread on the next firmware version, looks like some of these will be covered but thought I would mention them anyway.

or flag viewed recordings in the list.
Not always obvious to me that the mrs has seen an episode of corrie or not.

Better to have a 'viewed'/'unviewed' button on the remote for that, as you may just be cueing a programme up at the start, or stop viewing it before the padding at the end. (What I mean is that the machine can't reliably tell whether you've viewed it or not.)

Ah, yes, I like the idea of offering a delete option when you quit viewing a recording.

I have just upgraded from the 8000t and I must say i'm very disapointed with the new remote options.
With the 8000T I was able to program the remote to both control my TV and DTV and control the TV's volume. The meant only one remote was needed for most operations.
This does not seem possible with the new remote sadly. and I think its a step backwards really.
Not much else to report as yet as quite new to me and not worked out how to put MP3's on yet or use USB.

The 20 timer limit has been a major issue since this thread began - is htere wany chance of Humax actually implementing it?

yeah. There is a release being prepared at the moment so we all get 50 timers.

Not been told about MHEG switch off so I personally am going to assume for now that its not going to be in. I wanted it in 6 months ago because I didnt think Eldon were going to pull off a fix to lockups but seems they did in the end. Whether Humax think it is still worth putting money into Eldon for a solution to a non-existent problem is another thing. They are already pouring in a lot of money into our product so its not like they are being cheapscates either. After what Eldon did to their PVR for 6 months I dont think I'd be in a rush to get them working on the PVR again for a while unless essential - my own personal opinion!

Depends if its ready or not. I guess with Freeview Playback being further delayed Humax have got to consider releasing what they have minus the accurate recording, series link and saving EPG in standby work which is linked to Freeview playback

ok sorry if these have been covered already I had a quick look but didn't spot them

1 - I would like to be able to update both the loader and the PGXTF via USB say by dumping the file on the machine so that on next boot it verifies the file and if it is ok installs it and deletes it from disk, also a downgrade capability via the same procedure just in case any show stopping bugs surface in a new release

2 - there seems to be a problem if "Interactive Services" are used, we have all the channels organised into a favourites group if we use interactive services then we end up back on the standard TV group and have to reselect favourites

3 - can the box silently ignore incorrect button presses during playback, I have fat fingers apparently and I keep hitting the "game" button instead of "skip forward" and then have to hit OK to clear the message before I can continue, I could put my fingers on a diet I suppose

4 - can we have the ability to turn off "recording started" messages

5 - when recording stops then whatever I'm watching blanks out for a second, if I'm recording something else at the same time the recording is fine and has no interruptions though

6 - when pressing buttons on the remote the box has a tendency to repeat the action of the previous button, say if I step through a few channels using the next channell button and then decide to press "1" to get straight to beeb1 the box will keep stepping to the next channel

My suggestion (many moons ago) was that this was done with a press and hold of the stop button but I'd be equally has happy with a prompt. The prompt could either let you hit enter to choose "Keep", let you select "Delete" and just time out after 5 seconds or so.

Excuse my ignoranace but why is saving EPG in standby dependent on Freeview Playback ?

I'd much rather see a release of what Humax have now with the rest to follow later.

The PVR needs to be able to do certain things with the machine in standby to be able to carry out accurate recording and series linking and the EPG is part of that. They could continue doing their own thing now but next week or next month they could find out Freeview Playback has been sorted and have to rework the software

Id like to see:
1. It has a hard drive in so i would like to see more timer slots and a cached epg

2. The ability to input the name of a program and when a new series starts, it will automatically record. For instance, put in the name "Rogue Traders" and when the new series starts, it records it.

3. Shows me which recordings have been viewed

4. Definately a larger epg with more channels on the screen and one which updates quicker

I'm getting very worried.
Last night I dreamt that my 9200 had 49 recording slots, not 20.

I don't want to hijack this 9200T thread but is it worth having a separate sticky thread for a wish list for features in the next box that Humax produce?

I seem to remember some discussion along these lines but I can't find the thread(s) now.

Main features that I would like to see (that cannot be supported on the current hardware) are:
a) Hi-speed USB 2.0 transfer as device.
b) Hi-speed USB 2.0 host with a driver for USB mass storage devices (with a UI to transfer programmes to an external storage device).
c) Ethernet connection that allows boxes to share recordings if you have multiple boxes (e.g. the box in the kithen can play back a recording that was made on the box in the living room).
d) Hardware acceleration used for JPEG rendering and MP3 playback, to give better quality and the ability to play while the box is recording. (Contentious for those that believe that it should be a PVR only.)

I guess that HD goes without saying!

It's apparent that the current box does everything that I want in regard of the actual recording function - it's the playback side that I would like to see enhanced.
