I seem to remember some discussion along these lines but I can't find the thread(s) now.

Main features that I would like to see (that cannot be supported on the current hardware) are:
a) Hi-speed USB 2.0 transfer as device.
b) Hi-speed USB 2.0 host with a driver for USB mass storage devices (with a UI to transfer programmes to an external storage device).
c) Ethernet connection that allows boxes to share recordings if you have multiple boxes (e.g. the box in the kithen can play back a recording that was made on the box in the living room).
d) Hardware acceleration used for JPEG rendering and MP3 playback, to give better quality and the ability to play while the box is recording. (Contentious for those that believe that it should be a PVR only.)

I guess that HD goes without saying!

It's apparent that the current box does everything that I want in regard of the actual recording function - it's the playback side that I would like to see enhanced.

Cheers,

Sean”

Might be too late for the next box (Hi-Duovisio) which has already been developed - but would be interesting to do suggestions for the one after. Good news is your wishlists are in the hi-duovisio though

1. Highest Priority: Raise the scheduled timer limit, preferably to no limit (memory permitting) but if a limit has to be imposed then to a minimum of at least 50. Now that Autumn is here I’m finding I’m hitting the 20 limit again.

2. While in the EPG, be able to use the PIP button to be able to turn off the PIP picture to be able to populate the space vacated by it with more programme lines. Sometimes I like having PIP on if I want to continue watching a broadcast while selecting recordings but other times it is preferable to have more lines on screen.

3. Resolve the remaining Autopadding issues so that only a true clash of times when the two tuners are in use prevents recording – and if there is a true clash, issuing a warning when trying to enter a scheduled recording rather than when a recording is about to start.

4. While a programme is playing, being able to use the left arrow and right arrow keys to do a skip backwards and forwards respectively through advertisements, like the skip buttons under the cover of the remote control do at present. This, coupled with the use of the List button to select the playlist, as currently being suggested in another forum, would be excellent. I’d hardly ever have to remove the remote control cover, unlike at present.

5. The use of a button (the red button perhaps?) to delete a programme from the displayed playlist. This would complement using the List button to select the playlist to make a “quick delete” facility having viewed a programme.

I agree wholeheartedly - nice one !! Perhaps switching off the PIP could also be accompanied by muting the sound ???

You might want the sound, especially if it's tuned to a music radio station.

My wish was something which Humax had achieved.

GO BACK TO MAKING A QUIET 9200!!!!!!!!!

HD & Fan noise on new batch ruining what is a great little box!

My five wishes are:

A reminder when a programme is starting (if you just want to watch it rather than record it)

The ability to organise your recordings into folders (so that I don't have to trawl through 20 episodes of Charlie and Lola just to get to my recording of Neighbours). I know we could just put these on to DVD but we don't have a PC within range of the box so haven't been able to do that yet.

More than 20 timers

To be able to delete recordings from the play list menu rather than having to go into the main menu

"Weekdays only" option on repeat recordings.

I would like an 8 times fast forward.

But my biggest bugbear, is the messaging and blanking of screen in playback every time the Humax starts recording. I means that I have to find a window between recordings in which to copy recordings to DVD. I can see the benefits of the message, so perhaps the solution is to only send them to one scart, rather than both.

I can't see any benefit whatever for the recording message, and it could easily be made configurable for those who want it.

I find the way you are lobbed out of the EPG particularly annoying, as you then have to remember (and return to) where you were, and reset the Favourites. (I have a special Favouites list for setting the timers.)

My top 5 may change in time!”

The above was from 11-11-2005, 14:56

So how many have they managed to do Marc?

And don't forget my USB problems either!

4 out of 5 have been done now so I'm pretty chuffed that this thread I have started has actually served an actual purpose for the rest of the humax users. Thanks for bringing it up. In fact I had a top 10 and most of them are done Its amazing what can be achieved with PVRs these days and the right manufcturer. I think they are probably all terrible, but Humax dont seem as bad as some of the others. If I can be involved in getting them to do everything I'd be ecstatic but I dont think so somehow . The only thing I think is missing from the new software, which is great - you are going to like it when its released - is saving the EPG in memory when the unit is placed into standby. But the engineers are now inplementing that as well as part of the freeview playback thing they are doing.

For the benefit of anyone still interested in elinker apart from Keith, I'm hoping to see one in the next couple of weeks. I'd like to see if they've tidied it up a bit and put some error checking in the transfer process. I'd expect that by the time it gets out (spring knowing Humax ) many would have been forced to use the 3rd party alternatives to do transfers, been used to using the 3rd party software, which also has mac support, and wont want a new elinker anyway.

There are those that prefer eLinker to the alternatives.

The problem there being if you are recording the RGB output, being the TV scart as I would imagine it would default to the TV if only one.
Better to have an option to turn it off altogether.

Err are you sure?

* buffer does not clear when flicking to another channel or recording
* Substantially more than 20 timers
* Show at least 5 channels in the EPG at once or ability to zoom out or in the EPG view

Mind I am nor sure what all of these mean.....

Keith asked me how many they have managed to do on the list quoted and I am in a position to give him that answer. There is one or two more I think they could put in before release but that is now more likely to happen in the one after. We already know the list of wishlist items that have been put in firmwares over the past year, plus Barry has already published a list of the latest items from this wishlist thread that have made it into the new version, and I've shown some pictures already (let me know if you are interested). Give or take one or two more that probably need to be added to Barrys revealed list. I'm happy with the Humax software as it is now tbh, but the new software I've been lucky enough to have been invlved with just makes something good even better.

I think my top 5 are:

* more than 20 timers
* mon- fri recording for repeats
* playing of mp3's when recording
* increase the length of filenames in the recording list (it has become too short
* easier to delete files from the lists

apart from these the box is superb (just wish i had time to watch everything)

My top item is to fix the audio output so switching between devices over SCART works properly and also in standby.

had a look through and didn't already see this suggested apologies if it has and i missed it....
playback of divX/Xvid/MP4/MP2 files transferred > 9200T, in same folder as MP3/JPG files.

easy upgrade of hard disk/addition of extra storage provision (USB host has already been suggested, which would be just dandy).
now coming towards my hummy's first birthday - and it's still the best piece of AV kit i've ever bought...

As an embedded developer myself, as a user of TV's and teletext for a long while, and as a proud owner of a 9200T for over a year I have one suggestion only:

- Translucent background on DVB-T subtitles, like most Sony TV's do on Teletext subtitles (example here)

The advantage is that the image is still partially viewable while contrast (readability) of subtitles is not affected.

I would have thought this is easy to code because other GUI components in the firmware are translucent (and even have configurable opacity).

HUMAX: Keep up the good work.

Ive been using the latest 1.10 software for last few days now and must admit im really chuffed with it!...Thx again humax...The current hummy is definately a different beast from the one i bought a year ago and its all good

I really like being able to view the playlist now using the LIST button instead of having to open the remote

If im lucky enough to be granted a further 5 wishes from humax then id wish for > >

1...clicking "i" button brings up Now & Next for all channels by showing the current channel and any others by using the Up n Down buttons

2...EPG Choices like ..view listings by channel etc

3...Audio to be heard on the PiP channel if PiP mode is used while currently watching a RECORDING in progress channel and also the ability to SWAP

( This might be possible because at the moment if we are recording BBC1 and then switch channel to BBC2 and then enable PiP we will hear audio and be able to SWAP like normal PiP

4...Same as 3...except this time PiP audio to be heard in the PiP channel while watching a previouly recorded show and be able to SWAP

5...Option to Shedule/Reserve an upcoming show for viewing and not just record as we have at the moment

Most of these wishes are available to Humax iCORD users already...Anyone know why these similar looking machines can vary so much in software terms?

...I love my humax tho best thing ive ever bought imo

My wish is to have a power saver function; the nice big display is a bit bright.

1. Provide a USB2 socket that will take an external Hard
Disk Drive. You will never run out of disk space and the
external HDD can be transported with the info to
another TV anywhere.

2. Provide a memory card slot to capture a frozen image
and print it out.

3. Provide a programme alarm with various timer settings
such as used by NTL.

4. Subtitles can be altered in bold writing or
Semi-transparent just like the analogue teletext.
Also auto teletext for unusual words.Eg.Technical
or foreign words. This will be on the recording.

5. A built-in Multi-Media DVD recorder with dubbing features.
HD to/from DVD.
Mark.

You do realise that most of those are well beyond the scope of a software update?!

Sounds more like a complete rebuild at double the price or more!
