I was just thinking that if PDC became a reality, there wouldn't be any need for auto-padding then, would there?

"Freeview Playback" will provide PDC-like functionality. I.e. it will detect the start and end of each programme and adjust recording times accordingly. As for Videoplus, that is more or less made obsolete by the EPG, isn't it?

I find it frustrating that I cannot play back my MP3s whilst the Hummy is recording, sorting this out would be fantastic.

Otherwise of of my list is a 32x playback and software that converts .ts files into something more PC friendly.

Having said that, my humax is my best toy ever.

Version .10 is an improvement but I would like

Better features on the trim feature (fast forward and rewind) function
Ability to trim radio broadcasts
Even more channels on the program guide

I'd like the entire system font to be changed to something that's both easier to read and allows more info on screen.

The photos at the bottom of this page show what a decent interface can look like!

I like the picture in guide, especially as you might be in there a while or if the other person is watching something. I like the 12 channel full page grid format (with the picture in guide missing) in the link too though!

True - both are useful. On a full-screen EPG, the thumbnail picture could be pushed up to the extreme top-right and the EPG could use adjustable transparency.

Hi, I've just bought a 9200 at the weekend and I'm new to this board so first things first, hello!

There are a couple of things I would like to see.

A 32 X fastforward/rewind. As someone has already said, 16 is a bit slow and 64 is too fast.

They really need to get the programme guide saved onto the HDD. We're all told to turn kit off at night to save power, but then we have to wait ages for the programme guide to come back after doing so.

This final one was a real dissapointment for me. I was hoping that the 9200 would have a feature where you can type in the name of a show and it will go out and record every instance of that show until the end of the series, like my friends can do on Sky+. Does anyone know if Humax plan to add this via a software update?

Apart from that, I've only had it less than a week so no other niggles, I upgraded the software on day 2 and all seems to be going well. Touch wood. Overall very pleased.

Hi Harry,

this functionality is due to be added when Freeview Playback rolls out. Supposedly (according to those here who have a route into Humax) there will be an update during Q1 of this year. It's not already there as Tivo own copyright on series link apparently.

This is probably an old one, but I've only just noticed it annoying me:
When you watch a recording, the buffer is cleared unnecessarily. In fact, from what I can see it is not actually cleared when you start to watch a recording, but is cleared just after you stop watching it. I am sure I have noticed that for a split second when I stop a recording the blue buffer bar is still full, then it immediately empties for no good reason. Very annoying... ok, moderately annoying but still unnecessary!

Haven't read all the post as this is a long 'un.

Agree with many though:

EPG saved to HDD
Ethernet connection with maybe a web browser front page like broadband routers.
The ability to play Divx/Xvid like most DVD players.
USB hosting so you can connect an external HDD like the Archos.
Can't think of a fifth one.

Otherwise can't fault it

To be able to search for adult content, this would save me so much time!

Got my 9200 yesterday, on the whole very pleased with it, brilliant picture quality but just no where near as easy to use as the Sky+ box I have just cancelled the sub to.......basically the humax could do with the Sky interface

After just one evening a few wishes...

.1. Series link
.2. Chase play on while recording (I am amazed you cannot do this, although I havent tried it but found out by reading in here!)
.3. Listing/EPG needs to be larger ie more progs/hours, compared with Sky+ EPG its pretty poor.
.4. To schedule from EPG just pressing the Rec button seems more logical to me, rather than the info button and that silly little info logo it leaves....I actually had to read the instructions to realise that meant it would record the program..

I know I have been used to Sky for...well since BSB really! But Sky really does have its interface/operating methods perfect I think, so easy my old gran could use it, but the Humax/FV....no way.

Don't get me wrong though, I think its a great little machine, it just needs a bit of fettling........

Best regards David

Series link is coming, hopefully fairly soon; it wasn't available in the past because the necessary meta data wasn't being transmitted. Chase play is available whilst recording; what gave you the impression it wasn't?

I thought I read in this thread that you cannot view from the start of a recording whilst it is still recording?

we were always scheduling a recording in Sky+ then start watching it before it had finished.....if you can do that in the 9200 thats great, as I said only one evening so far, so still exploring.

Best regards David

Depends on the version of software, I think from version .06 onwards it is available

You can view a recording before it has completed. Shortly after a recording starts, it appears in the recordings list with a red REC symbol next to it. You can then select it just like any other recording. (This feature was added in one of the software updates, so you may have read an old post that was written before the feature was added.)

Edit: pipped to the post again. You have to type fast on this forum!!!!

Which is 15 months and about 5 software versions out of date. One of the nice things about Humax is that they have listened to user requests and provided substantial enhancements to the original software with hopefully a lot more yet to come.

My Wishlist - having run my non-technical mum through it!

Major Issues:

EPG: Faster loading EPG or some sort of feature where it saves it is required.

Over-Air Updates: My Mum wouldn't know a null-modem cable if it knocked on the door and introduced itself. Regular Over-the-air updates are essential IMO.

Minor issues:

Pressing STOP to get up currently recording programs isn't logical

In EPG, using the RECORD button would be far more logical than the "OK" button to set it to record.

Series Link, although I see it's on the way ( hopefully over-the-air or my Mum's stuffed ).
