Release the software under an open source licence!

Not only are Humax not going to do this... there are also software licensing issues with the underlying code and tools - the ones supplied with the NEC chipset that is in the 9200T (and Topfield PVR5800) - that is, Humax would have to get NEC to agree to release the code and tools too.

At the end of the day... systems are not open source unless it is Linux based... which the 9200T isn't.

Another vote for folders to organise recorded programmes.

Another vote for caching the EPG.

Also I find it irritating that hitting the play button accidently a second time causes playback to go back to the start of the recording.

Replace the start recording bar displayed on screen when a recording is about to start with a red circle in the top right corner(anything less anoying)

When sheduling recordings display a prediction of space required so i can delete things in advance rather than in a mad panic.

Allow a better connection to a pc (usb or lan)

Make it possible to add an aditional hard drive to the unit to increase space.

I know that is six things, but on the whole the humax is spot on now i've stopped it getting signals from two transmitters.

1. Make the VCR scart output RGB. It would only have to be a buffer of the TV scart RGB outputs like the CVBS and S-video outputs. I would connect this to a DVD recorder for archiving. And while we're at it, re-label it DVDR scart! Who has a VCR now anyway?

2. Save EPG to disc (not again.....)

3. A 3 colour bar showing used, reserved and free space on the HDD a la Digifusion.

4. Folders

If you've got a DVDR you can connect it between the Humax and the TV in the SCART chain - that way it can record RGB.

True - which is how it's plumbed at the moment - but I prefer my kit to be separate inputs to the TV, not looped. I would have the PVR on scart 1 and the DVDR on scart 2 with another scart between the PVR and DVDR for occasional archiving. It all makes for easy auto scart switching whereby the last bit of kit switched on feeds the TV and doesn't confuse the family, e.g. the DVDR has been left on and they can't see the PVR when in loop through. The VCR was binned years ago, so again I ask, why have the second scart labelled 'VCR' instead of 'DVDR' and not giving out RGB as well as CVBS and S-video? It's not just Humax either; every PVR seems to have one!

Another thing I've just thought of.....
The Recorded Programmes list is a 3 button press to get there; or slide the flimsy bottom cover down and press the Playlist button. It's a much used operation for obvious reasons. Many other PVRs call it a Library and access it with 1 dedicated button. As the remote won't control a telly and you'd usually control audio level with the telly remote, how about re-assigning the Mute button to access the 'Library'?

But then the button would be incorrectly labelled - and in any case I mostly use the Humax remote to control the volume &c. and mute if required.

Better to use the List button and ensure that OK always brings up the channel list - sometimes it doesn't which I think is a bug.

That's a scart limitation. It has pins for audio and composite in/out (and with a bodge, S) but RGB is one way. Some PVRs are not even wired to pass RGB through.
At least the Humax allows to view in RGB from a connected device.

Dont really want to spend £200 atm!

I love the Humax, but I am constantly filling the disk!

Well replace the HD on your existing Humax with a bigger one. Up to 750GB if you like.

I don't see how Humax can be expected to increase your disk space, unless you're asking them to increase the compression, at the expense of quality.

The best thing I did with my Humax was to buy a OneForAll URC-7780 and learn all the commands I use - it just has enough buttons for everything, and the volume now controls the TV in "FRVW" mode (and the Hummy in "Humy" mode). Shame I need to spend £30 on a cable to programme the darn thing better (if it could learn more buttons than what the Hummy has that would be enough!).

Add padding option to series link / accurate recording.

I tried accurate recording for a few weeks but got fed up missing the end of programmes so it's now turned off. However now I can't set a series link.

Even if it was limited to padding the end of the progamme it would be a huge improvement.

TIVO control their own EPG. Same with Sky+.

With Freeview, you have the committees deciding on the specification (perhaps inadequately), the manufacturers interpreting them, the broadcasters ignoring them...

ok so I had a Humax for about 6mnths now and here is my top annoyances.

1. The remote sluggishness.

2. My "Weekly" recordings dont come up as being set to record. Ie if I set something to record it shows with the little '1' icon in the guide but the repeat event a week later doesnt have that.

3. The accidental double press of play. I suppose if point 1 was fixed this wouldnt be soo much of a problem.

4. Slow EGP load..... Why cant it like save it then when u turn off and on have like a kinda black and white guide and for it to go normal blue colour as it gets the up to date info? Least then I could get a good idea of whats on... chances are it wont have changed very much since last switch off.

5. The fact that if I set 2 things to record 3 days in advance. Then say "oh wanna record this prog I happen to have turned onto" on this 3rd day, then I go away. On screen comes up a "Scheduled recording set to begin stop another recording" ... something like that. I have probs left by now... so why cant it tell me this when I press "Record" cant it say "Ahh ... u canny record this cuz X and Y are starting soon... "

Anyway on the whole a top piece of kit well worth the money. But with the (I would say simple) things fixed above would be perfect.

If an individual recording is scheduled using the EPG a "to be recorded" mark appears. However, if the same recording is edited to schedule daily or weekly, no "to be recorded" mark appears on the EPG associated with subsequent recordings.

This often results in attempts to mark programmes twice for recording when it is forgotten that a sequence recording has been scheduled and the programme is reselected from the EPG. The recording will also appear twice in the scheduled recording list.

A "to be recorded" mark on the EPG for all programmes whether individually selected or edited for daily or weekly recording would be appreciated

Thanks desert. I hadn't noticed your post and did not want to trawl through 720+ posts just in case it had been previously mentioned.

Just noticed the timings of our posts - they must have been being drafted at the same time - a case of great minds thinking alike?
