Here is my set of wishes ...

1. Ability to mark multiple recordings for automatic playback

2. Auto padding of record times ( with program title taken from at least 2-3 minutes into 'non padded' recording time - not from when program is due to start )

3. Editing of channel name ( so it fits in the window ! )

4. Sound in 2x Play ( like some old Sanyo videos had , with a pitch shifter to stop people sounding like Pinky and Perky , that way I could watch ( and hear ) a program in half the time !! )

5. Increase in number of timers

These are not in any real order ...

My wishlist:
1) Subtitles to be available in time-shift mode.
2) Auto-padding
3) Increase in number of timers
4) Scrolling channel name on unit display screen.

1) More reliable (e.g. no more lock ups, which I've had, and lower risk of losing all recordings, which I've not had)
2) Chase play
3) Auto padding
4) Series link (would this be an EPG issue?)
5) Ability to put DivX/XviD files on the hard drive and play them (preferably with easy transfer a USB data stick)

I think the last one is a wish too far!

1) Chase play
2) in EPG an option to toggle on/off the channel preview i.e. to allow more channel info
3) time padding for records e.g. 1min, 2min, 5min
4) information banner. Ability to use arrows to look beyond now and next and on different channels.
5) Allow pip of live channel whilst watching previous recording

Make the advert skip button 3 or 4 minutes - when is an ad break ever shorter than that normally?!

Increase USB 2 transfer speeds - come on guys this isn't really USB2 is it?!

Replace the time bar with a panel that says the exact number of minutes and seconds you are behind the live broadcast, when timeshifting, like the Sagem PVR6240.

Allow subtitles in timeshift mode.

Save EPG to hard disk (Priority).

Everything else other users have suggested!

There are glitches with the widescreen switching. Hard to explain but when changing channels with different aspect ratios, the picture will sometimes go to 4:3 then 16:9 then back to 4:3 again. Annoying! (Seen on widescreen TV, with box set to 16:9, TV to auto).

It does, but you have to have them set to on when the recording is made. It inherited this from the 8000T. They can still turned off in playback, even if they were on when the recording took place.

I think that is to do with the broadcasters double flicking the widescreen switch! I've watched it in slo-mo when the 9200T is in 4:3 and you can see the end credits flicking their width several times. I'm pretty certain that's not a Humax fault. That throws my DVD recorder in a certain setting which doesn't like mixed formats. Think you've cleared out the 16:9 only find there's another switch a moment earlier.

One more oddity I have found is that if you are editing a title (to put right its incorrect naming by picking up the title of the previous programme after it had been padded) and a scheduled recording starts, you loose your editing session when the 'start recording' message appears. I'm sure it isn't essential to drop the title editing session just to say it's starting to record something, that could well be done seemlessly in the background.

I got mine a few days ago - Love it so far!

Important issues for me are:

1. More timers
2. Series link/Passport functionality
3. More than 100 programs returned from a genre search.

I tried searching for Movies and the returned list only got as far as Channel 4.

No shocks here:

Increase the 20 timer limit to at least 50

Configurable Auto-padding (both start and end) but preserve program name when bringing start time forward.

1: chase play
2: being able to record the whole program when pushing rec. On Digifusion, as long as you had been on the channel from the start of the program, when you pressed rec it would record from the start of the program and carry on to the end.
4: option to delete recorded program that you have just watched when you press stop. Would save having to go into the menu all the time.
5: reasign the list button so that it would bring up the recored programs list, this would save having to open the slidey flap. currantly the ok button does the same as the list button

1. Chase mode for what I have set to record.
(i.e. if I am watching the end of something else, be able to go to a part recorded programme, and be able to start watching it. How really annoying that I cannot do that, when I can on my DVD recorder.)
2. Names for weekly recordings in the list of programmes to be recorded. Madness that it loses those when changing from the basic record once.
3. At least 5 channels on the main EPG
4. Autopadding, or at least something like PDC.
5. Remembering EPG when waking from standby.

No, it is definitely Humax. I'm talking bout when channel surfing, not when a 4:3 programme like Friends ends then goes 16:9 for the ads.

Great! Where can I get the same DVD recorder as yours.I would love it to be able to record two digital channels and still watch another on it.

My wish list

1 More than 20 timers (I didn't think I would need them)
2 Autopadding where possible (User-definable taking overlapping recordings into account).
3 Better chase play
4 Names of the main programme retained in the recordings menu when padding.
5 TBA due to the fact I think it is a great machine anyway

Could not restrict it to 5!

1. User selectable automatic padding of a reservation, with start and end padding pre-set in Preferences. Program name to be retained, and reservation Icon placed in Guide.
2. Ability to play a recording whilst it is being recorded (Chase play).
3. Faster loading of EPG after switching on (store on HDD).
4. Ability to change the end time for a scheduled recording after it has started.
5. Picture in Picture available during play of recordings.
6. 50 timers.
7. Recording Delete facility to be provided in Playlist screen.

Hah! Read carefully - its the chase recording that my JVC DRM1SLB DVD recorder will do.

Can you describe the symptoms and circumstances as I haven't noticed any problems with Humax widescreen switching either on the 8000T or the 9200T. I do have issue with other equipment in this regard, eg a DVD player, a DVD recorder and a Freesat box which seem dumb in this respect and only use the screen format set in preferences no matter what the content is .. at least the Humax sends the switching signal!

The ability to playback selected items one after the other automatically would be nice. For archiving purposes etc. Sky Plus has this feature.

a fast-forward of x32 speed would be useful as sometimes x16 is too slow but x64 is too fast.

As expected the 20 timer limit was nowhere near enough to record everything for the 3 days I was away over Christmas. This is bound to be a problem when we go away for over a week at any time of the year as well. Increasing the timer limit would be by the far biggest and best improvement humax could make.

Top wishes:
1. Chase play (watch programme being recorded but time-slipped)
2. Subtitle button of remote control in main group , not under slide
3. Find feature of EPG able to deal with more than 100 entries (try find by genre "Film"!)
4. User-selectable padding at start and end of recording selection
5. Make MP3 / JPEG folder as small as you like so there is more space for video!

Well pretty much the standard set for me.

1. 80 programme timers

2. Chase play

3. Easy padding of timers. (perhaps red/green buttons for start minutes, yellow/blue for end). Not really in favour of auto pads

4. Better colour accuracy on whites on a black background from RGB (have a look on itv 4 closedown logo the white appears bluey white to see its true colour press the opt + button)

5. epg saved on standby or always read from bbc channels

1. Full EPG available from standby (my Sony DVD/HDD recorder can do it as can my Samsung LCD TV).
2. EPG to show more channels at once (adjust line spacing?)
3. One button to get to recorded library (yes I know there is one under the cover on the remote) where all library functions are performed. i.e. Delete, Play etc. This should be simple as it could just take you directly to the Menu-Recorded page.

Then my wife would be happy as it would be as easy to use as my old Pace Twin!

Just moved from a Digifusion FVRT150 to the Humax 9200T. Impressed with some things, but missing some other ones!

1. Padding - would be great to have option to set a default padding for programmes that got added when you selected a programme in the guide. You could then go in and edit the recording to remove the padding if you wished - I find I need to add it to almost all my recordings so it would be useful if it happened up front.
2. Programme name - please can the system be altered so that adding padding doesn't cause the programme name to get forgotten - I'm sure the 8000 doesn't do this (my parents have one). On a similar note - if I make a recording via the guide and then add padding could the little reservation icon please stay on the guide rather than disappear? It's very rare that programmes broadcast exactly to time, so I tend to pad most of them - it's a bit annoying to not be able to look through the guide and see what's going to be recorded
3. Channel view - would be nice to swap between the grid listings and also a listing of what's on just that channel.
4. EPG - seems to take ages to populate - especially if I'm watching a recorded programme rather than a live one. Why does it need to be wiped every time the machine is put in standby - can't it just be cached to disk and then the cached copy could be compared to the broadcast version after the machine comes out of standby. This would give us the best of both worlds - the instant availability of EPG when coming out of standby combined with it being able to cope with broadcast changes.
5. More programme timers & chase play!

Now if only someone from Humax was able to tell us if any of these are planned for future software releases!

Humax have already replied (I think it was to a personal email which was then posted in the forum).

1. Planned

2. (i) I believe you have the original software, and the already available update solves this.

2 (ii) Nice idea, I haven't seen it suggested before.

3. Don't know.

4. Under consideration, I don't think Humax have definitely said they will be doing it.

5. Planned

Is that right - are both more timers AND chase play confirmed as being in the works for a future update?

If so, that'd improve the box a lot.

Look through the forums yourself. I can't recall exactly where the report was - if I had remembered I would have linked to the thread -, but they were both definitely there.

Mind you, no time scale was given.
