Ok so he has been gone now for 9 months. Do you miss the legend that was Dirty Den Watts? For me it feels like such a waste, but what a storyline this has been! I have to say though that the show doesnt feel any different without him but i would be interested in what others think?

Not really, His death has been far more interesting than anything from when he was alive.

I quite enjoyed the dressing room story....or am I confusing fact with fiction?

I'm totally gob-smacked. What about the 'who's the father' storyline, or the 'six-months to live' or the 'happy christmas ange' or what about when Den burnt down the Dagmar in revenge for Kathy's rape? Unless, of course, you were too young to see them, in which case you're forgiven. I even enjoyed Den setting up Phil and the whole lot of fallout over getting back the Vic. I'll admit (putting aside obvious complaints) that Den's death has provided much of the entertainment for this year, but yours seems a very dismissive statement of some of the biggest stories in soap history. |

Not particularly. His demise was far more exciting than his life.

I don't really miss Den. The events following his death have been much better than what would be happening if he was still alive.

Den returning has opened up so many story lines that couldn't have happened if he'd never returned but also wouldn't have worked if he'd still been alive.
Alot of the business's wouldn't have been bought out by Ian and then now returned to the Mitchells, I haven't seen this weeks episodes yet but the odd snipet i've seen makes it sound like Phils been getting his own back again, big bully he is. The rest of the mitchells wouldn't have first left then returned again so now that Chrissie has gone as well I think the injection into the whole storylines with bringing him back for six months has really revitalised the show that had really started to drift off. Must say though I'm glad that he's gone again and this time I for good. |

den was a great character and they missed some great potential storylines by killing him off |

First time round, he was a really excellent character... then when they brought him back (which, as someone above has said, HAS opened up a lot of new possibilities... but I considered it unnecessary) he was terrible. Couldn't deliver a line without shrugging his shoulders and mumbling... hands in pockets. He ruined Eastenders for a long long time. Only now with the finish of his death storyline is the soap managing to claw its way back up.
