November 11, 2005, 1:22:43 X-Factor favourite Chico is planning to sing a tribute to his seriously ill friend on Saturday's show (12.11.05). The former stripper usually performs light, dance numbers, but says he will sing Enrique Iglesias ballad ‘Hero' for pal Janice O'Halloran, who is battling stomach cancer. O'Halloran - the singer's former boss - has been fighting the disease for several years. A show insider is quoted in Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying; "Chico is really nervous. This song means lot to him - he is singing it for Janice to cheer her up. He wants to give this performance his all. He knows he has a lot to prove." Chico, who is known for peeling off his clothes and substituting his own lyrics to songs, will even ditch his usual antics for the performance. The source revealed: "There will be no saucy antics - just Chico trying to show that he has a good voice. It's bound to leave the viewers in tears." The seriously talentless going for the sympathy vote.. to top Antony and his real berevement..how crass is that...... what a shameful thing.... |

I take that side of things with a big pinch of salt.... ![]() This is tosh.. the body language alone tells you so much..Chico is all loud and ego and me me me me...Ant is all mature and dignified... it is not rocket science, nor does anyone need a degree in psychiatry tro suss these people basic nature out... Oh well I knew this would start the screaming against him.. but you know he may not have been part of this.. you tend to get pally with your mentors... they all do.. they have to... so Chico may have said why he wanted to sing this.. and the promotion crew thought OH right we will get this in the press... do not judge what you do not know that is very unfair of you all. We had Andy seen off a the airport to go to Grenada.. we heard Ben say the week before ON THE FRIDAY Andy was not there as he was burying his mother.. so we had two weeks out of that.. and no one batted an eyelid.. Chico wants to sing a song for someone.. a tribute to someone he cares about, why can you not see it as just that.
Chico NEVER mentioned the name ONCE.. never said she was ILL either.. he said someone he loved... so me I tend to think he could have milked it then but he did not.. so I am not going on a lynch Chico... for me I will just enjoy him singing this whether it is amazing or poor I will know that he is doing from his heart and I hope so will she. HE DID not say it Slappers.. the paper did.. he never mentioned HER just he loved her, never said she was ill either.. someone has let the Sun have this.. and I knew as soon as I saw it the read it what people would think.
We had all the false tears from Brenda no one batted and eyelid.. sob story GOD THIS COMPETITION is tough.. the week before she was at logger heads with who she was crying about Chenai.. For me I will wait and see how Chico sings and I imagine this will be emotional for him, no matter what you all think, I find the man to be sincere.. and some of the others are far from that. GG |

I veyr much doubt that... but like you I hope so too... as that would be dreadful. I will ask a reporter friend if they would have to do that.. and he used to work at the Sun so he should know.

I just take this Chico (((MEGA-CHICO-TIME))) BASHING with a pinch of salt now. It doesn't matter what he does, as GG and Gilly remark, there will be people that will pick up on it to trash him with.
They pour out of the cupboard to add their t'penny worth, and use cods-psychology to examine the motives of Chico (((MEGA-CHICO-TIME))) like he controls the media - yeah right. "I will be your hero, baby". Chico (((MEGA-CHICO-TIME))) TO WIN!!! Let's all celebrate...

GG Editing this one to add that Chico and his team are not doing anything wrong. All is fair in love, war and the X-Factor - or so it seems. My opinions have changed recently - we should give all the acts a break, wish them all the best as this means the world to each and every one of them.

ALL he said it was to someone he loved.. what is wrong with that.. ANDY actually said it was for HIS MUM who had died... need I say more.
And yes we should sit back and enjoy.. and wish them all luck no matter who we are backing or not backing I sure as SHITE would not want to be in their shoes. I do think though that Chico has taken a very large amount of bashing so maybe it is time to stop. GG |

Every week be it in the papers or on the X-Factor programmes, snippets of peoples personal lives are included.
As regards the furore this article in The Sun seems to be causing......well, I don't read that particular paper, and whilst it may be popular, not everyone in the UK does. If it hadn't been mentioned on here, I wouldn't have been any the wiser, as no doubt many other people will not either who haven't read the paper or seen it on here. I really don't see why people should ultimately lay the blame at Chico's feet, I suspect that it has been used as a tool to gain publicity for the X-Factor show itself, not to gain grace and favour with the public for Chico. After all, according to a few on here Chico isn't liked by many of the viewers and also not rated by the judges to be going far in the competition, so the likliehood that the X-Factor press office would allow a release of this sort for any other reason than to keep the SHOW in the public eye is far more realistic. These artists are under contract. Anything printed about them with regard to personal matters eminates from the Official X-Factor press office without a doubt. The X-Factor is a big machine, the artists are just small cogs. I have no doubt that anything they can glean and think they can use, they will just to guarantee newspaper space. |

Not sure about if I agree about the publicity stunt side of this, but I do know that he has a sick friend he has been ringing and visiting..way before the X factor.
And do we know it is Chico who has leaked this? When I heard of it it was told by 'a source'. And as for the Andy thing, well his mother had died.... I do not understand the anomosity that comes on here sometimes. Maybe I am a bit close to certain subjects at the moment so understand the contestants sides. I think I best bow out of this thread before I say something I regret.

I'm really not fussed one way or another how, when, why or where the story eminated from. I'm also amazed at the fuss that is being made of it as well. |
