Well, for that to be the case, it will have to be used on the programme tomorrow to really take effect.

Anyway, I really have said my last word on it. I shall still support Chico......as I'm not a floating voter. That's all I have to say on the matter.

All reality TV shows , from BB to Pop Idol etc., have one thing in common, all participants sign a contract with the production company allowing them to use whatever they want about their public and private persona.

These performers have been with XF for some months now, they will have come into contact with various people connected with the production company and also PR companies.

There may have been times when some or all of the acts have felt the strain, and perhaps at times like this thay may require and receive some counselling, this may be provided professionally, or, as I suspect, somebody's shoulder is offered to cry on. Whatever the reason, we can't expect these acts to not say anything to anyone about their private lives, that's an impossible demand.

Who knows if Chico's friend may have had a particularly harder time with their illness at some point, and maybe Chico was down as a result or whatever, and needed time away - we just don't know. But I know about what TV productions will do to get publicity for their shows, they all do it, and of course, it helps an awful lot with the script for Saturday. I mean by this, that for the producers, Chico singing Hero, will create a context that will surprise and engage the audience. And that is the main job of this show, to keep the viewers coming back for more.

Have you heard of researchers.. Chico may not have given her name.. it is not hard you know.. and I have someone who is a bloody reporter who would tell you so as well..

WHY bash up Chico are you afraid he may win.. I am backing Journey South.. with 2nd Andy or Shayne.. am I here bashing Chico.. NO I am not why are you lot... I really like the man, I think some of the others are SO damn big headed it is unreal.. he is not.. his reaction that he was on the tour said it all. he was thrilled, gobsmacked.. for me he deserves to be there.. do the Conways.. for me NO... you want to talk about talent lets discuss theirs.. as for me it is ZERO.. no charisma.. and who the hell dresses them their grandma..

Do you know what I really hope now bottom two are...... Brenda and Maria.. that would shock you ALL... it won't be.. and the CHICO lovers here will be voting... and so will my son FOR Chico..

Excellent post Karl.

Sadly the Doubting Thomas' will prefer to believe their version of events.

This time next week I suspect some other unsuspecting contestant will be getting the same reaction on here to an item in the newspaper about them!

Unfortunately, it's human nature to look for the worst in people in preference to the good.

So will I Gilly.. I have only just come on and didn't know anything about this 'friend'. I heard him on 24/7 saying he was doing it for someone he loves.

If it was for an ex-girlfriend everyone would go mad, if it was for a present girlfriend there would be an outrage that he is leading the public on, if it was for someone who had died recently just like Andy there would still be bad feeling towards him.

The man only said he was doing it for someone he loves, he didn't say who and for what reason, but it's just another excuse to get at Chico. Doesn't matter what he does people will always look down on him, he's that type of person. Just because he is a fun character is he not allowed to have a serious side where feelings matter!!!!!!

Hi Mel, Yes I agree with you.

The thing about the Great British Public is they love to gossip about others, just so long as it doesn't involve them personally.

The good old fashioned British Stiff Upper Lip means that to wear your heart on your sleeve is totally unacceptable.

Most important of all everyone is up there to be knocked down again.

That last point is a sad comment on the human race as a whole.

Agree Melanie. If there wasn't any personal background to this song for Chico, the bashers would be criticising him for being souless etc.

I beginning to think that perhaps some people are afraid that Chico will perform brilliantly with this song, that they will have to rethink their opinion of him. Not just that, but he will then represent more of a threat to their chosen favourite.

It would seem Melanie NOT on here.. how sad are this lot really... this man is probably the best entertainer we have seen in years.. maybe he is not the best singer. but I tell you what when he can make my 71 year old mother say.. HEY I changed my mind have you read this.. and she meant it.. not like all this lot dissing him.. she thought that this is sincere..and I MADE her watch the show tonight all of it and he NEVER mentioned she was ill or dying or her name.. and she said WHY are people so nasty as I read some out here to her... she can't make it out... Andy can say I am doing this for my mum who we all know is sadly dead.. and NO one said Publicity stunt.. that was so much more personal.. and Andy took part when the cameras followed him last week.. is that not a symapthy thing NO it would seem not..

Chico I tell you what mate... you may not be my fav but you are most certainly my HERO.. GOOD LUCK my 11 year old will be voting for you..

X factor whole package... what is that.. can entertain.. has charisma and can sing.. lets wait folks as I know this man can sing.. not maybe what you want to hear... and I want to hear him sing Let Me Entertain You.. as for me Robbie cant sing too well either but look at him NOW..

My Xmas Pressie PRETTY please Chico to WIN

GG

and NO I have not gone totally nuts off my trolley or lost the entire plot I know WHO I would pay to go and see. and he happens to be IT..

Not wishing to be disrespectful in anyway, but this is crying out for sympathy. If he sings it badly, will people vote because of his ill friend? He could have kept this to himself, and it's not the sort of news that you want broadcasted. But yes, Sharon done this last year with Tabby, and she's doing it twice this year to pull in the votes.

Nah, it won't work anyway. If Chico sings it badly, i'm sure he will be in the bottom two. He sounded good on 24/7 though...

Have you not read the posts above regarding publicity and how performers have no control over what's published in the tabloids.

I have got mad on here before and lost my cool but that was when I first came on, but oh my God tonight this is the first time I can really feel anger.

Yes it's only a TV show, yes we are watching these people and hearing what the producers want us to know, but these are also REAL PEOPLE!!!

I have had my say about contestants I admit it but I have never called names or insulted them, I know GG you probably disagree with me on Chenai. But it just annoys me that like you say they can do anything they want, but as soon as it's Chico that's it!!! He's a fraud, a fake a sympathy grabber.

I'm just so annoyed that it's one rule for one and one for another, and yes it was brought up about Andy's mum and he was on TV talking about it, but no one said he was going for the sympathy vote. To be honest I wouldn't have blamed him if he had and I am not taking anything away from him he did really well to keep going I know I couldn't.

Why is it when it's Chico everyone jumps on the bandwagon.

I'll stop rambling now

Well, I shall pop back on here later. But for now I'm off for some 'comfort food' a big bowl of Clotted Cream Rice Pudding!

Hopefully, by the time I return the 'gloaters' will have evaporated back to whence they came.

Bon JOVI.. and they sounded dire... but poor old Chico cannot win here can he.. I tell you what I would not pay to go and see Brenda... Maria... Shayne (right now CLONE) Nicholas who I loved tonight but needs to grow... the Conways well they can GO HOME.. I would pay to see JS, Andy and Chico... so there you go..

Chico you let me know any venue you are playing near me and I will be there as YOU ARE MR ENTERTAINER that is what they are not getting here.. at first i thought HELL what is this.. now I know what it is.. someone who I would pay to see AND NO NOT take his bloody clothes off before anyone dares to say it..

Chico, and Sharon, know he is bound to be on the way out this week - THANK GOD - he's dire!! So they play this desperate card now. Do we really want to witness a distraught Chico on prime time TV - as we no doubt will if he's eliminated. The subliminal message is - I gave it all for my friend and he/she has been dismissed by the public vote - TWISTED, SICKO - get OFF NOW.

OH, thank goodness you've arrived (where ya been, nibbling the all the pringles)

The cupboard with the nasty toys in is open and all those strange dolls that you wind up and all they can say is "Chico no good" or "Chico can't sing" or "Chico can't dance" all come out with the same stupid nonsense.

Can you lock them away for the night.
