Questions from a novice

Hi folks

I'm new to the Freeview and Personal Recorder situation so I would appreicate some help. Apologies if these have been answered before

I'm interested in the Humax range, especially those with the personal recorder/hard disk.

Does the recorder allow you to record a program and watch another channel or a DVD?

Is it similar to Sky+? (any advantage/disadvantage)

Does it cover the range of channels that others cover?

Any reliability problems with Humax in general

Thanks

I'm only talking about the 9200T here ....

1. Yes - you can. Plus, because it has twin tuners, you can record two different programmes simultaneously and watch a DVD or another prog you've previously recorded. Sometimes you can even watch another live prog.

2. Don't have Sky+, but from what I've heard the functionality is similar. BUT of course you can't see the subscription Sky channels. You can see Sky News, Sky Sports News and Sky Three. You can see all the Freeview channels as well. You don't pay any ongoing subs!!!

3. Yes it does cover all the Freeview channels; plus its reception capabilities are well reviewed. Plus it is TUTV enabled ie if you want TUTV it has a slot for you to insert a TUTV card.

4. Too early to speak of reliability on this model, but Humax has been Best Buy Freeview box in Which?
