Last night i was woken up by the fan in my hdd going full tilt, also the bottom 3 and the top circular lights were on, then record, then pause, then play, then telephone?!
Got a pic:

Looks like a set of traffic lights with an identity crisis - quite pretty, though

If it was 03:30-ish, then it may have been the EPG download; I've never been around at that time to see what combination of lights results, so it's just a guess.

Presumably it's back to the usual "one red light" now? And operating normally?

Generally during the overnight download the power light flashes yellow or red. ISTR one means EPG, one means software. I had one overnight crash which had an odd set of lights, I don't think there's a reason for the pattern, unless it's a code to tell them why it crashed..

That picture of the lights looks quite eerie. Did you find yourself inexplicably drawn to Devil's Tower?

I had the smiley face on the blue LEDS Wednesday / Thursday night.

Power off for 10 seconds sorted it.

oh yeah it's working ok now though.
usually when it updates (i'm awake lol), the power light usually just flashes orange intermittantly (sp?)
i thought maybe it was a new s/w of f/w upgrade, but it's still 1.7.7
