i have just read on another site that someone rang c4 to compain about tim's "joke". they were told that appropriate action had been taked and tim had been given a strike.
can anyone confirm this please?

Nope.

On the one hand the ITC regulations say that on the comment should never have been broadcast, however if they had silenced it out we would never have known he was making such offensive remarks. There is little that the producers can do to stop the HMs talking about what they want, they can blank out certain parts of the conversations, and they can make talking directly about the nominations against the rules, but apart from that they have to leave the housemates to be themselves, no matter how dispicable that may be.

What did Tim say??

I don't think there is much that BB can do about one joke, I think that if it was sustained disussion it may have been a little different. Tim will be ounished for this though, as now not only will anybody who recongnises him from BB will now not only associate him will being a stuck up snob but also a racist. I think that one joke is going to follow him around for a long time...

Tim thinks everyone is below him anyway. Did you see him when they were having the pillow fight? It was a total look of discust.

Just went to that mirror link and read the 'joke'.. it's terrible - Tim should definitely have got a strike. Not only is it racist but it's downright disgusting to think that beating up Asian people is funny... and the fact that PJ laughed has really shocked me too - i was inclined to think that a lot of his laddy sexist etc stance was just a show but now... I think it's good that C4 showed it though cos i think we should know what a w*nker Tim is - i always thought he was but now!! he has to go soon! i'm disappointed none of the other HMs told him where to go.. .

"and the fact that PJ laughed has really shocked me too -"

why? its shocking that tim told that jole knowing hes on TV but not shocking that ppl find it funny.

go to a comedy club and you'll hear sexist, racist, sep 11th, etc, etc jokes with lots of laughter going on- lets not be naive about the world we live in.

I dont know which comedy clubs you attend but lately racist comedy especially when it includes violence is sort of taboo for good reason. I attend comedy clubs all over London and have never heard that poor standard and poor taste in years

From today's Sun:

"DUMPED Big Brother toff Tim Culley only wept on telly because he has failed to bed sporty housemate Kate Lawler, a pal claimed last night...

...Ross Marshall, who met Tim at university, said: “It’s all just crocodile tears. Tim bet me £50 before he went into the house that he could make TV history by seducing Kate on screen."

It's odd that the Mirror choose to censor the word "shit" but leave the word "paki" intact - which do you consider the more offensive?

I'm not sure i like your implication that if it weren't on TV it would be a perfectly ok joke to tell.. i don't want to start a whole debate on racism here, but essentially Asian people in britain do have to cope with a lot of abuse and violence, and this 'joke' isn't clever or funny, but instead condones that violence. I find that despicable and not funny. I too go to several comedy clubs in London and have never heard anything approaching that... if you were an Asian person (or any other minority) and heard a joke like that would you not feel threatened? unwelcome? angry? it is not humour to make people feel that way.

Such a charming bloke...
On the subject of racist jokes, why does no-one care about bloomin' Jade being racist? Tim's joke is bad enough, but why is his racism worse than Jade's?

Very well said. I sometimes wonder if people on these forums ever venture outside into the real world.

elfpetal,

if you arent sure you like my implication why dont you re-read my post and you may conclude that i implied nothing of the sort thus making you happier!

in case you dont i will try again:

it IS shocking that tim said that joke on TV. he knows he is watch my a mainstream audience and unless hes had his head in the sand this last yr with all the stan boardman/leeds utd stuff he MUST realise that he will upset ppl...there for i am shocked.

I dont find the joke shocking- i will not comment on if i find it funny because that is NOT what my post was about. the reason i dont find it shocking is because it is the sort of joke that will be told in schools, pubs, factorys and "some" comedy clubs everyday. I will not comment on if that fact is a good thing or a bad thing because (again) that is not what my post is about.

in summary- he told the joke, im shocked. the joke though did not shock me.

T

please dont read implications into my posts that are not there- unlike PJ who is now homophobic because he whistled instead of saying "gay" i can answer back when ppl trip off.

Tim had also made a rascist comment a couple of weeks ago when the HM's were visiting Brett.
When they were having those discussions he said something about "shipping them home"......I didn't catch it all as everyone was talking at once.
Did anyone else pick up on it??

Personally i think the implication i read into your previous comment wasn't farfetched (ie it was plausible), although i accept from what you wrote above that it wasn't correct...so i withdraw that bit from my earlier post...

you weren't shocked by the joke, i was, and i guess that's where to leave it...

not sure if you all remember but when tim was talking about going to africahe said ..."lots of little coloured people at our beck and call" to alex and pj, neither said "stop that's racist" perhaps that coupled with the joke counts as enough for a strike.?

reported on many media sources - check newsnow.co.uk for others.

C4 (again) failed to show his strike

Just wondering whether they are going to shock the viewers by bumpin someone out with the 3 strike rule

i would imagine c4 would be torn between pj, and tim..for racism, alex and jonny for talking about noms......who would they give 3 strikes to?

Dunno, but it's bloody funny if it is - I don't blame the girl, he's revolting anyway. I can't imagine any woman finding Tim's personality the least bit attractive

Didn't hear that one, but did hear Tim talking of the "little coloured people" looking after him on his safari to South Africa. Was disappointed no hm's challenged him.
