Can i just say that in my view, some of the posts placed in certain threads about tonights episode of eastenders, and more so about the wars in general have been absolutely appaling. I ask that those responsible by banned and there posts be removed.

I ask now you may love eastenders you may hate it, and the same with coronation street but there is no reason to disrespect those who gave up there lives for our freedom over television soaps.

I don't think there was any need for that sweeping comment was there? It's not even funny anymore - and it wasn't funny in the first place either.

some of us watch both EE and corrie, so I don't believe it's any of the Corrie fans that are causing all this hassle, it's probably some small-minded child (tweenie) who has been on the computer for far too long and is getting over tired!

Time for their bed-time....

I would hate to get into a dispute with other people on this forum, but I must say that I really dislike some of your posts on here. Basically, the OP was saying they disliked people who were saying disgusting things about the War which I totally agree with, and not to bring soaps into it. Yet that's what you just did. Not only that, but you decided to generalise people who enjoy watching Coronation Street because you don't like that particular soap (which you've made no secret about). Let me tell you that people who watch Coronation Street are not an awful group of people, why most of them probably also enjoy watching EastEnders.

*Rant Over*

I have read most posts and yes some do slag off eastenders but I do not see anyone disrespecting the dead, please provide links.
It is my opinion that soaps should not be used in this way, they are not educational and should not pretend to be.

What?? I'm a corrie fan and I watched eastenders tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't posted anything disrespectful, so how am I an awful person.
Your statement is rediculas - Corrie fans are awful people??
How can you know what people are like judgeing by what television programmes they enjoy?!
I think the Corrie V Eastenders rival on this froum is, at times, really pathetic.
And from what I read on the eastenders thread tonight, it seemed like it was the Eastenders fans making the disrespectful posts. I'm not saying all Eastenders fans are awful people, I don't generalise so stupidly, but the comments made (the ones I read anyway) were from people who ussually do like eastenders.

Sorry for the rant, but I don't like being called awful for no reason.

I never watch Eastenders but I have watched it tonight because of what it was gonna be about. I found it really good and interesting as well as moving.

So please check your facts before posting comments like that Mariah.

I agree. The pettiness of some people on here is shocking.

It's only a small group of fans that have a rivallry.
Even the actors of both soaps get on well in real life, only recently Adam Woodyatt went up to weatherfield to recruit some cast members to join him on the pub bike ride from Weatherfield to Walford in the aid of the Rhys Daniels Cancer trust!

maybe some on here should take that as a hint, lets all get along and play nice!

I think it's actually gone too far, you can't escape a 'Corrie is Crap' thread these days.

This all loosely translates as criticizing the episode = disrespect for the war and its many casualities.

Anyone saying that is being utterly idiotic imo.

Yes! Let's censor speech and publication, just like our German friends did before the war. I'm sure our grandparents would be grateful for that.

Not.

We already have a ban on certain types of speech and publications. The complaint is about mindless drivel being spouted.

Life (and the internet) is full of mindless drivel "being spouted". As far as I'm aware there are no laws against it, it is not illegal to publish it (hence the tabloid genre), and we are free to ignore it.

Banning, censoring and limiting rights just seems very antithetical to the spirit of what this day means. My grandfathers fought in WWII, as did their brothers; my grandmothers made bombs at Swanage and Swynnerton in WWII, as did their sisters. Some of them were killed for their trouble.

This doesn't make me want to ban idiots who don't appreciate their effort.

Hmm, just imagine....if the Nazi machine had won the war, we would not be posting our views on here now. We would not be allowed to have views of our own..................RIP brothers and sisters...and THANKYOU!
