Oh No I Feel For Maria..!! Awfull Song..!
Oh Brother...
12-11-2005
Who the hell picked it for her???

Okay ppl sayin its a test but why the hell dont they test other ppl.. she is one of the ones who has had the biggest variety in songs.. no need to make her sing this crappy song that has nothing to do with her..!!

Look at Brenda I like her but I think she is not being tested like sum of the others and same with Andy.. its usually same sorta songs week in week out..!

While Maria has done RnB, up tempo, old songs, contemporary songs, slow songs.

I'm not a Maria fan and hearing the song the other night I would be really worried if I was her, she didn't do well last week either IMO. I think she's going to get a shock this week

Yes indeed..you are right..she thinks she has it sewn ...it is unfair of judges to big up one.. it will all end in ears as in fact she is not that good or original.....Brenda too..she sounds jsut like evry other famous R&B singer of past 30 years... been there and done that... it is all a bit predictable and ho hum with these 2 women

Do you think they were showing her as very Bolshie on purpose when she was discussing her song choice with her vocal coach. Or, is this a way of showing Maria has some kinda ooooomph; anyways I was very puzzled.

It means someone who likes to argue and make difficulties (that is the actual dictionary meaning!)

It means bolshevik rather than menshevik (Russian Revolution).

Well, i'm not a Maria fan but i've got a feeling that she's going to sound great singing Brown Sugar. She just needs the confidence.

Without even hearing any of the other folks songs last night (I had a phone call right through the whole programme ) I instantly know that Maria will be the bottom one of my choice. I hate that song, I have always hated it, reminds me of boring wedding reception discos. And I heard Maria rehearsing it, was horrible. And she isn't convinced that it's a good choice for her either, so has no confidence in her performance. Maybe she has built up a big enough fan base already to keep her safe though.

Don't mean to be rude but can you explain to me how Maria sounds like every other famous R&B singer of the past 30 yrs. R&B is continuosly changing and to my knowledge she doesn't remind me of destiny's child/ beyonce/faith evans/Gabrielle/mary j blije. What has made R&B so appealing is the fact that the successful artists all have originality hence why R&B is in the charts every week. So for you to say Maria sounds like every other famous R&B singer is a bit biased and unrealistic. You don't have to like Maria but it would help coming with a valid point. I'm guessing you don't know a lot about R&B or your comment would not have been posted.

Have a nice day

Why is everybody saying Maria is an R&B singer?! I see no evidence of that. She's a POP singer.

From watching the show Maria is a R&B singer, (why simon said he'd like to hear her sing a more contempory songs) But saying that no can say what she is, on the show she's more R&B but until she releases her own style of music we wouldnt know. But from the way she sings soulfully its very R&B

I don't think she does. Plus she doesn't sing R&B songs. I don't really understand where the R&B thing has come from.....she's no more R&B than Shayne.....

You don;t have to sing R&B songs(in this competition to be an r&B singer) just the way she sings is very R&B like she doesnt keep to the way the song is sang she makes it R&B like what she did last week with James BLunt, and note she sang destiny's child emotions in week 1 or 2 cnt remember

I don't think she's all that R & B either. Definitely diva pop but should be able to handle Brown Sugar in a pop/rock sort of way.
Actually when some of these acts talk about the 'huge risks they are taking by stepping outside their comfort zones blah blah' I have this ovewhelming urge to laugh and point and jeer. Now it would really be stepping outside their comfort zones if any of them would take on a Cradle of Filth cover and show their inner deathmetalhead to the world.
