If I hear her say 'Ive given so much up to get here' or 'this has always been my biggest dream,' I will gag.

Great voice, great looks, but she has tried it professionally before and not got there. People like Shayne and Andy surely deserve a crack at it, especially Andy - although I am convinced Shayne will win.

I really liked her start with but, if anything, she is too good, if that does not sound silly.

I don't think she is too good. Sure, she is not my favourite, but last year Rowetta (AMAZING ) had been a backing singer for a group or something and she had tried it professionally before but not made it
I thought the X factor could be about giving so-called 'failures' another chance?

The way I see it is, that if you are a backing singer or tried it professionally - she has a website that I have seen - then why cannot boys who were in Five or Busted etc etc (including old girl bands) have a go? Would make it all pointless, and I realise there is a world of difference between Maria and Rowetta and Five and Busted.

I hope you get my point, as I have probably explained it badly.

I'm getting sick of all this bitching now, Gt over it there are alot worse people in the competition than Maria, personality wise and singing wise.

I like Maria,I don't think she's any more fake than the rest of the contestants.

i think she has a great voice but she doesnt have much of a personlity so it will be tough for her when doing interviews.

Yes, her voice is really good, but she just doesn't dominate the stage the ay Brenda does

seriously though I don't think she is fake, what is there for her to be faking..? she is who she is, as others have said she has a great voice and on paper you would think she could easily win, but imo there is something about her and her performances that is just not very endearing..

That's my problem with Maria as well, she has no stage presence or charisma. I also don't get why every one keeps saying how gorgeously stunning she is, sure she has a fantastic figure, but lookswise I don't get it??

I'm sure St Sharon will let us know if she suspects she is. After all, spotting the fake is what the show is all about.

i said the exact same thing on another thread. I dont think shes stunning i think addictiv ladies, one of the conways and Chenai are far pretteir. She may have the best voice but shes not as attractive as all the people on the show seem to say she is.

I don't think Maria is a fake as we haven't really heard much from her. I don't think she's too good either. She's just very ordinary.

There aren't going to be many older contestants who haven't tried to make it professionally. Andy and Brenda were discussing having met while singing at a Trevor Nelson event, so they've obviously both tried to some extent.

IMO She has an amazing talent, that's all that matters.

I think she seems a nice enough person,..as most of them probably are.
I quite like her.

Don't forget that most of them will bullshit a bit to try and survive if they feel they have to.
It doesn't necesarily make them a bad person. They just want to survive.

Every week there are video trailers about just about all the contestants and their own personal "journeys".
This is more of a programme construct that the show itself has decided to present to us.
So I try to just remind myself that if I get sick of these video trailers that play with our emotions, then it's more to do with the design of the show than the actual contestants themselves.

There's no point in wasting energy getting angry with the contestants for this, because if it's not one person then it's somebody else doing a similar thing.
It might be bullshit, but as long as it isn't harming anybody else by putting them down it's not something worth getting angry about, it's just one of those things that we either have to get used to, or switch off.

Often it's down to how the show is structured that annoys us and the contestants either get praised or crucified as a consequence of what the show decides to present and highlight.

So I don't think Maria is any more fake than anybody else on the balance of things. I've seen them all bullshit a bit on one level or another to survive at one time or another.

I thought Chenai was judged quite harshly, and I just didn't see why there was such a problem with her. But I was aware that it's the way that these shows go, and each week another contestant will be judged very harshly as well. (As well as other contestants being judged too favourably and worshipped like a demi-god)

So I find it really hard to dislike Maria or anybody else based on so little of what we know of them. She appears a nice enough person and for all I know she probably is.

If you compare her to someone like Beyonce or Whitney shes not that great so i dunno why the judges always say shes gonna be as big as them,

Maybe that's what it is, I want to believe the hype, but she falls short.

I don't think Maria is a fake, I just can't warm to her. She has no conviction in her performances and just leaves me cold. She also gives me the impression that she thinks she's too good to sing Soul and RnB standards, which is why she keeps going on about wanting to do rock songs, as sees herself as more of a rock chick. I hope this backfires on her, and that she leaves tonight, as the song she has chosen won't suit her at all.
Yeah she has a good voice, but so what? There are plently of good singers out there, many of whom probably entered the competion, but didn't get vey far because they weren't beautiful enough or didn't have a very interesing life story. I don't dislike Maria as a person, as she didn't chose how the producers of the show would portray her; showing her going on about how much she has given up to be in the competition, ie- not being able to go on her Honeymoon etc. I'm sure she'd rather keep her relationship with her husband private, and knows how lucky she is to be there. All in all, I just don't have an opinion on her, or care about her perfomances enough to vote for her.
