Well, it's pretty obvious that his performance will be a Justin impression but as his head was shaved to begin with, i don't reckon people will be saying that

You never know with the level of "maturity" on this forum

Some guy actually wanted him to shave it for the idents, not for the actual show.

They already are - its all over the place. I don't know about Shayne being accused of being unoriginal - loads of posters on here are unoriginal and just re-iterate either what the judges have said, or what other posters have said.

There is only a limited amount of different things you can say about an act without someone repeating or going over it again yourself though isn't there? Plus, the more people say it, the more people must think it!

Shayne must have rival fans worried. Lots of threads about him today.

Well just to be original I don't think Shayne is like Justin Timberlake at all.....well apart from them both having shaved heads and singing the same songs and being boring of course.

Relax I'm kidding.

I'm a bit intrigued by Shayne, there's definitely something there, in the auditions he really stood out for me but he doesn't appear to be performing to the maximum and to be honest I don't think a JT song is the answer. Just have to wait and see what he does with it I suppose.

I agree totally with this statement...he has not delivered for me as yet.......he could be great but lacks something and this song is not it!IMHO ...wish he'd smile more too.

I very much agree with this.

The show itself forces discussion by throwing out soundbites all over the place that they want people to discuss.
Good soundbites, bad soundbites...they know that people will pick up on comments and use them as main discussion points.

And likewise, if a poster makes a point (that might even be valid), then that is often picked up on, and then an enormous amount of emphasis is placed on a point that is re-iterated and repeated a lot.

Then these little limited discussion points often become the main elements of focus that people generally think of when they think of a certain contestant, and then spread like a virus as people use selective discussion points that they attatch to specific contestants.

So caricatures of contestants are created by a few soundbites.
Some are created by the public, and some are deliberately generated by Simon and the judges themselves.

One example, that I think is probably the strongest example is....Chico is "entertaining", or "Chico is why people watch the X Factor".

Why?

As far as I'm concerened he is no more entertaining than anybody else.
He performs songs...like all the other contestants. Some like him, others aren't too keen.
But I haven't seen anything that makes him especially more entertaining than anybody else.

This Chico is entertaining thing is an example of the judges throwing out a soundbite, and the public picking up on it. The judges keep perpetuating it, and more of the public start accepting it as something real.
It's as thought the public believe that Simon is 'gradually' warming to Chico, as though he didn't know Chico was going to be there, and as though this isn't actually another contrived drama being played out in front of their very eyes.

But if you ignore the myths and the soundbites, you just have another contestant singing karaoke. Just like every other contestant.
If 'entertaining' is just spin on being a bad singer, then it shows you how powerful television is.

If Chico is 'entertaining' you could apply that to many other acts who were rejected in the audition stages. 'Lottie's at it again' suddenly becomes entertaining.

Of course they were all entertaining to a lot of people, or they wouldn't have screened all their auditions! And X Factor would have been a lot more boring without Chico.

I don't think he deserves to, or will win. I certainly don't think he's a great singer, but he gets people talking and whoever else everyone supports, most people watching will be keen to see what he does this week.
