HI everybody
does anyone posses one of these phones, with the Sim card reader
i got one today, quite a good phone , but one thing i have noticed after programming in 130 names and numbers into the phone book, if it is unplugged, all the numbers and names dissappear. Christ i nearly died when it happend.
The phone does not have a battery back up, but there was nothing to say you would lose all the numbers.

I know you can copy all your numbers back to the phone with your Sim card reader, but its the inconvienice, as you may have diff numbers stored on each phone.

I was thinking of just getting a Sim card to stay in the phone al the Time, as you can also copy numbers direct from the phone to the Sim card.

Does a Sim card have to be active, to store telephone numbers on it & what the max amount you can store on a sim card ?

cheers

Tom

Have you got the one that takes batteries as a backup,
or the one you can insert your mobile sim card into

cheers

The reason i am asking is, i phoned BT, and they said that the

relate 2100 with Sim card reader does not hold onto numbers in the memory, when the Ac adaptor is unplugged from the wall

God,
this is the strangest thing. When i use the sim card reader and copy all my numbers from the sim to phone, after its complete and i dial my home number via my mobile, they phone does not ring, although i can see my incoming call on the screen. I have checked all the volume & ringer settings & VIP and its all set correctly.

But if i turn off the phone at the mains, which in my phone (clears the entire memory) then dial the phone, it rings ok

What is wrong here ?

pretty sure i think,

I have went into the VIP, and have turned it off, but still it does not ring, but you can see the call on the screen.

This is strange, due to the fact. Once after i uploaded all my sim card contacts to the phone, then deleated them all.

I tried ringing the phone again frm my mobile, but it would not ring. But after turning the phone off (which wiped it),
it would ring again

Returned the phone today and picked up another.
exactly the same problems as yesterday.

Even now i have noticed (and this was the same with the first phone)

When i use the Sim card reader, copy all my sims over to phone book, then remove Simcard. The phone does not allow you to dial out at all.
all you get is a long beep.(you can dial out before uploading numbers frim sim)

And still the same case, with dialing the phone(from my mobile), after the numbers have been uploaded from the sim to the phonebook. It stops ringing. All you can see is the call /number on the screen (but no Ring tone)

This cant be coincidental, cause its exactly the same as i was getting with the first phone.

There must be settings somewere that have to be changed
