Why didn't they just fail the task?
Pica

Unless I've missed out on one of the rules in the last 'video from family' task... surely an option for the Housemates could have been to simply 'not do the task'.
The phrase 'you have passed the task' was frequently used on the coverage.... but if they refused to choose, surely they would have just failed, and consequently have reverted back to simple nomination procedures?

Comments please.....

Theyre so dense I dont think they thought of that.

That thought passed my mind as well particulary when Alex went to the DR and BB asked him twice who the group had decided to nominate but I would have thought if that was an option there would have been another envelope to deal with the situation? If they had chosen that option they should have all been put up for nomination

I dont think so either. It didn't seem to be very clear that they could. They seemed to go into panic mode (except Jade who didnt want to see it - WHY am I having this be nice to Jade day) and thought that 2 of them were going to be forced to see family videos.

They really should have thought it through a lot more

LK - very happy

Just a little surprised there was no mention of this eventuality on the show or in this forum... People are usually much quicker off the mark than me. I'm very interested to know the official line on what would have happened if they had 'failed'.

It certainly has made things interesting, but would rather PJ and Kate stayed in over Tim, the vain ****. I want to fight him.

What possible reason could they have had to have wanted to fail? Two of them get to see videos of their families, they get to avoid the nomination process which they don't like, bars are down, they've got £400 rather than basic rations - it would have made better television for us if they'd failed it, but they had no motivation for doing so.

agreed. The "ultimate sacriife" had no downside as far as the Hm were concerned. Far better two people be up for eviction randomly than two or more Hm thinking they are unpopular (I say this from th HM perspective).
