I'm sorry. He may be Irish but he is in England, where it is expected for people on TV to wear poppies. In Asian countries it is tradition to cover up, and so that is what you would do if you go there. I consider that in the same light.

I'm Irish, I wear a poppy.

Plenty of NI people or people who'd identify themselves as Irish, not British, fought and died in the Great War. Ypres, Somme, and other battlefields.

I think intimidating/forcing/expecting everyone to wear one because they're on TV, isn't quite what the people who fought in that war were fighting for when they fought off the Kaisers lot.

Poppy wearing should be a personal choice.
