Why Blame Louis?
Why Blame Louis?
The UK public put Maria in bottom 2. Personally I think she was the best of the lot but obviously I was in a minority and I accept that. Out of the bottom 2 vote, I'd blame Simon for Maria going because it was pretty obvious what Louis would do. It's Simon's show, he's generally accepted as the best critic and he admitted that he thought Maria was the best over the weeks we've seen. Last week he said he'd kept Nicholas in based on potential even though he said he'd base his decision on the last performances and then admitted afterwards that Chenai was the better. All this isn't stacking up logically towards someone who wants the best for his show and the best talent to win. Sharon made a good point that if Louis does keep voting for his countyfolk then they'll only go if they're up against Nicholas or Shayne. I see Simon's now admitting on Xtra Factor that he'll henceforth vote off his own act if he thinks the other is better - bit late for that now Simon old chap. If the UK public are going to keep voting in novelty acts over raw talent that's up to them - Hey the Yanks would be p*ssing themselves but for the fact that they've done the same to a few acts themselves - Jennifer Hudson & Constantine to name a couple. I don't personally think it was the song that failed Maria because for me she was way better than Nicholas, Chico & the Conways, even if you argue about the rest. I'd personally put it down to the same complacency that killed the chances of several really talented acts in American Idol and it's particularly bad for the girls over here. Constantine was the same in the last US Idol - he's massively versatile and for me the real winner of the last US Idol even though I thought Bow & Carrie were both awesome within their genre. I think circumstances out in the US are now starting to show that Constantine was the cream of the crop though. Normally folk going out at this stage in UK disappear off the face of the earth but I think Maria could turn the tide and end up being a bigger winner. But hey, unfortunately, sh*t happens in these things! Last edited by paulh0202 : 12-11-2005 at 22:48. |

Yeah, but that is where the X Factor goes wrong. Maria and the Conways were in the bottom two - correct. But who was in last place? The judges decide that, but do we ever see the results to see how much the 2 bottom singers lost out by?

You maybe wouldn't want to push that one about who was really bottom - it could reveal an even bigger surprise.
It doesn't surprise me entirely about Maria being in bottom 2 even though I thought she was the best. The type of folk she'll appeal most to are probably the least likely to be voting. Also, a lot would maybe think that she's bound to be safe and ignore her in favour of voting for another that they liked but thought might struggle in what was a very competitive week. |

I agree about Louis being a twit by the way but if you read the post you'll understand that's partly why I blame Simon, not Louis because Simon had the chance to keep Maria in, knowing how the twit would vote.
Simon also had the perfect "get-out" as well because he'd taken nothing to do with "his" act this week. |

I am neither a fan of Maria or the Conways so it was a win win tonight for me - I do agree with you though Paul with most of your post.
I do think though that she along with Nicholas and the Conways were the worst performances tonight. And yes sh*t happens. |

Did you see the look on the judges faces (Simon) when they announced Nicholas as safe - astonishment or what!
Same happened to Chenai week after she first went in bottom 2 when they announced her as safe first. Obviously for biggest impact. |

Sorry, Maria didn't come across as one of the best for me tonight because of the lousy song choice - totally wrong for her. I can't believe Chico is still there after his mauling of Hero, personally.
And Louis did exactly what I expected him to do. Remove a rival to Shayne and support an Irish act. Why wasn't there the same level of complaints when he kept Chico in? I don't recall this mass hysteria then... or was that because he sent one of Simon's acts home? |
