Changing the subject from Louis and the Conways, did anyone agree with Simon about Brenda?

I know the guy's been in the industry a while but no idea what he's talking about. If she can sing as well as that on stage why can't she record and release records?

She's not my favourite (although now Maria's gone there's a vacancy...) but she's definitely good enough to win this.

i like her and she has a great voice but image wise etc i can't see her selling even 100,000 albums, and that isn't nearly enough for her to keep her contract

I think Brenda needs to tone down the confidence a bit....

Thank goodness for a change - I was becoming seriously bored with the whole Maria thing.

I love Brenda - she is one of my top three. However, I do tend to agree a little bit with Simon in that I am not sure as to where her market it. Given that though I am not in the business and really wouldn't know where to start with any of them.

Simon does tend to know his stuff though 90% of the time - so when he makes comments like that and about Shayne being big I do tend to take note of what he says.

The problem I have with the music industry generally is that i don't know whether artists make it because they are good and different, or they make it because we are brain washed by people like Simon Cowell into thinking that they are great and different which makes us go out and buy the albums - added to that is the restrictions on airplay for artists who are outwith the inner circle of the likes of Simon Cowell.

With that in mind I am sure that someone like Simon could make Brenda a star if he put his mind to it. She certainly has got the talent.

I do think though that recording artist and west end star do not have to be mututally exclusive. There is Elaine Paige, Micheal Ball for example who seem to manage to do both.
