I think he gave her £5k in cash on the day with more to follow. But we all know that in reality the pub freehold would go for about £1mill. But she was desperate to get away , Ian knew that so thats why he obviously made a stupidly low offer that she would have to accept.

The club was closed at the time of that conversation so there would be minimal background noise. And there are certain CCTV systems that record voice , that is why many CCTV systems have to be covered by the Data Protection act , not just for the images and how it records them but voice as well.

I would like to think so, except that Chrissie made the point previously that they had to have cash, they couldn't even use their credit cards as that would allow them to be tracked. It would have been difficult for her to accept a cheque subsequently (even via a solicitor) as she would have to declare where she was.

he gave her 5k cash, but he was paying more than that for it in total.

He didn't buy it for £5K. That was just the cash he gave her. The actual amount he offered was more than that but we don't know what it is. Chrisse agreed on the condition that Ian gave her as much of the final amount in cash as he could get hold of right then.

Also, Ian was bankrupt a few years ago because he had invested in building a load of flats. He was no longer bankrupt out of the blue, when the flats were finally finished and sold. After that he then moved out of his tiny flat behind the chippy and bought Marks old house.

Thanks Jeeves, I know that has been said before, but I can't see how he would get the balance to her (as per my previous post).

This annoys me. How can someone who was declared bankrupt and skint just a few years ago have 3 businesses back up and running?

Well at the start evrything had to be in Pauline and Lauras name , as a bankrupt he could not have any Directorships.

On paying off his creditors he was then released from bankruptcy and allowed to resume his businesses in his name. This is perfectly normal procedure as long as the courts are satisfied , only in severe cases are people banned from holding Directorships for longer periods of time.

True, but he tricked Laura into signing everything back over to him.

And noone's yet answered how Chrissie was gonna get the rest of the money without being tracked!

And even more bizarrely, why has Jake just been allowed to swan about with the money when he was aiding and abetting a murderer?
