I was with BT Cellnet which is now 02. I've noticed they have a tariff where you get 300 or something free txts a month if u top up £10 a month. Does anyone know how i can change my tarrif to this? I've tried emailing them but no reply!

This was a former Genie (internet only) tariff. I can't see any info on the 02 website so I assume it has been discontinued

There is a £20 p/m tariff offering 500 free texts & 50 free mins.

It's here
Look for 'Pay As You Go'
You have to buy a new sim card for it.

So i gather that i would either have to change my number or pay a fee to have it kept the same! This doen't seem fair to me, I top my phone with at least £10 a month so find this quite annoying! Existing customers seem to get a bad deal really!

It is annoying, but thats the price you pay for wanting free txt.

You could always buy one of those dual simcard readers to make it a bit easier.

You cant get 'Genie' sims, but you can now get O2 sims on the same tarrif.
And if my link (above) worked, as sometimes it doesnt want to load, you would see that.

Same tarrif, different name.

I got mine via O2 a couple of weeks ago. The sim card was £9.99. You get unlimited WAP plus 300 free texts a month aslong as you put at least £10 credit on each month. A good deal in anyones books. I wonder how long it will last . If they stop the free texts though, there will be no insentive to move to PAYG O2 as the call charges aren't anything to shout about.

You have to pay by DD though (i believe thats what they say on the radio anyway) for the 300 free texts, so itr isn't really pay as you go, more pay upfront.

You have to pay for the SIM Card via Credit/Debit Card. Thereafter, you can pay for the calling credit how you wish

Look here: http://www.simpletalk.co.uk/bt.htm

You buy a SIM card for £60 and it includes line rental *FOR LIFE*. You just stick the card in your existing phone and away u go.

Failing that they do a Phone *AND* a Lifetime SIM for £139!

You can choose a tariff that includes 100 off-peak minutes and 20 text messages FREE per month.

If you exceed the free quota it's 2p per minute weekends, 5p evenings and 35p weekdays.

Other tariffs are available with up to 200 minutes free per month or another with 50 texts per month.

Just think, for a £60 outlay you could have FREE mobile calls for life, provided you stick to less than 200 minutes/month.

Phone/email them and ask about their Cellnet "Pay upfront for life" SIM's. You want to talk to someone called "Taz".

(BTW, I have nothing to do with "Simpletalk" I'm just a happy customer.)

Doesn't sound particularly good to me although these mobile tariffs do my head in!

I thought that by now the tariffs would be good value for money but they're no better or maybe worse! It just seems that as a fairly regular PC user you get spoilt... loads of stuff is just FREE! Chat, email and most websites, imagine if they started to charge for these!

I reckon as they find effective ways to advertise on phones then things will change as mobiles are probably gonna be more like pda's maybe.

Think i'll just stick with what i've got for now! But thanx for the feedback, I may look into it.
