Can a woman win
chuff
09-07-2002
I have my doubts as to wether a woman can ever win British BB, despite the probability that women make up the larger number of viewers and voters
It seems that women are far harsher on their own sex, and tend to let a lot of the men get away with it.
Men are just men etc and a woman should know better.
Take a look at some of the stick Kate is getting for Jade's antics last night, why Kate and not the other HM's.
Men can bitch, but only a woman knows how to do it properly

Of course a woman can win.

Look at BB1. In the final vote, Craig received 51% of the vote while Anna received 49%. Hardly an emphatic victory.

Last year (and please correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm not 100% sure), Brian received 58% of the vote and Helen got 42%. Although a larger margin than BB1, Helen was certainly not totally thrashed.

So women have proved that they're more than able to hold their own against the men. They've just been unlucky.

The BB2 voting was 31% to Helen and 69% to Brian, that is excluding Dean and Elizabeth's votes.

I think its personality that counts, I thought it was brilliant last year that people look passed Brian at the obvious, and just voted on him! I think the programme works very differently in other countries, I mean by the way its presented, and the reasons for the winner, from what I have seen,

yeah of course, 19 teams are going to be unlucky in the premiership this season
they didn't win, and it's 4 v 2 and jade hasn't a prayer, or has she

its upto the women whether a woman wins.
kates done well, she's even a "geezers gal", most other countries bb have had a girl winner.

as far as feminism goes some of her revelations might help. but then again, maybe not.

The females get a harder time if you ask me. The criticism about looks, personality and bitching are vicious.

Anna should definately have won and the fact she couldn't beat Craig suggests a female winner is unlikely.

That the two women to do well were... A lesbian with teeth missing and a girl who was as dizzy as hell and very childlike. No threat to other women whatsoever!

I doubt a nice looking girl with a good personality (Kate) does well, I'll be surprised.

Kate at least deserves to be in the final 2 imo.

if kat goes on friday then no!

but if she stays and doesnt get evicted next week then yea a woman can win, but not jade. the best jade can hope for is third

Interesting results of the first male/female eviction poll just done by RISE:

% vote..........Kate / PJ
Men...............27 / 73
Women........20 / 80
Combined...24 / 76

This shows women more favourable to the female candidate which contradicts the "own worst enemy" theory.

Assuming the "combined" result was calculated correctly (and not just the average of the 2 percentages) then the m/f voters were 50/50 which goes against the theory that more women vote.

Of course the final vote is different, and women would have to actually vote for a woman rather than just reject a man.

Presuming women and men didn't just vote in both...

Kate to win

I'd much rather her continue a careeer in television than any others - she's got more talent than most of the arsehole women on TV... Comparing her to "ladette" Sarah Cox like some in that house have, is unfair. Cox is a talentless waste of space and Kate is a really good impressionist at the very least

Can an attractive, sporty, funny woman beat a great looking, funny, slightly camp guy? I doubt it. But I'd like to see it.

I think Kates reaction to it all would be hilarious... There's no way she would be expecting it, where as Alex must have a good idea of his popularity what with Spencer going... The interviews would be pretty similar... Alex, the whole peeing in the shower stuff and Adele. Kate - the impressions (surely they will actually show her doing all of these - they're so good) and Spencer.

Jade going any further would be tragic. She's been nasty and she's known exactly what she's done. Nothing to do with her age or lack of experience. Helen was thick, but never nasty...

You have a point.

It also presumes that the women voted exactly the same way as normal without being told in advance they were being tested for being traitors to their sex.

It is known that women are not honest in some surveys, i.e if you ask something like "have you been involved in adultery" more women than men will lie and deny it on the form.

PS: Actually I find Sarah Cox quite witty sometimes which is more that can be said of the other jocks.
