Simon Turns His Back On The Conways
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds26210.html Quote:
Simon Cowell is turning his back on one of his own X Factor acts, The Conway Sisters. If he thought this, then why did he keep them in? If they are compalining about the song's then why dont they refuse to sing them? If Simon really has had enough of them, then why didnt he do something about it last night?
The judge became tired of the group's behaviour after they allegedly threatened to quit the show following a row over song choices. "Simon and his team think The Conways are a nightmare," a source told the Sunday Mirror. "Their performances have been a disappointment - but the girls blame everyone else but themselves. "Publicly he'll continue to give them his support. But privately, he has had enough." |

Maybe because, not for the first time, it is media drivel.

I thought with his reaction last night on Xtra Factor that it was clear he was hinting that the Conways should have gone. I thought that was why he gave the speech about voting off his own acts if he thought another judges was better.
From what I've seen, which admittedly isn't much, and even then only what the producers want us to, I feel that the Conways in some way think they are bigger than the show, and deserve better than they have been getting. |

We all know Simon is a top class judge, even though his comments can be a tad harsh - he is nearly always right about everything he says. But the bollocks about him booting his own act off if they werent better than another judges act is crap.
Deep down he knew the Conways werent as good as Maria last night. And if he was the manager of the 25 and over category, he would have picked Maria. |

Watching the replay and the comments after the first time they ang Louis and Simon both praised Conways more than they did Maria......
apparently the conways quit the show today anyway...... which to be fair in their position i would probably have done the same. They have been made in to hate figures for something that isnt there fault. |

I thought I saw a thread called "conway sisters quit x factor" but it seems to have disappeared - maybe it was just my dream...?

It was on some other forum on here that i read it, i dont know if its true or not, but if you think about it on saturday they must have felt pretty bad with EVERYONE saying that they should have gone.
I think the show is doing the Conway Sisters much more harm than good. |

Their little pre-performance video really annoyed me.
Yes, they're his act. But Simon has already said he won't lie out his teeth if he thinks someone did crap even if it is his own act. Honesty is the best policy. They'll never get anywhere if people told them they were fantastic every time when really they're crap. You see this so much in the auditions. They should know this and be grateful for it. It helps growth and gives you a push to become better. But they obviously think they're much better than that. This is why I think Simon is the better judge. He admits when he's wrong, he's honest and will criticize his own acts if needed and no matter what people say he's knows what he's talking about. Louis and Sharon never do that. They're too busy having a cow over one bit of negative/constructive criticism that Simon gives, or lavishing praise on their own artists even when they clearly do badly, to actually properly review the performance. And they're not helping their artists with it. They have no clue what the public will think while Simon usually has a pretty good idea and more often than not turns out right. God, that was longwinded. |

Yeah, I'm sick to death of their excuse 'we worked so hard on it' So what? So did everybody else. Look at Maria all this week with Brown Sugar.
I never understood why he put them through in the first place. They messed up a few times if I remember correctly and they never sounded anything special. Then again the groups were terrible this year. Journey South seem miles ahead of the lot of them, a different league. They've always been the star of the groups and the others just chucked in because they needed to fill 3 spaces. I can remember on American Idol last year (Fantasia year) when that ginger kid was kept in for weeks despite him being completely out of his league with the rest and decent singers being voted out. When Jennifer went, it caused an uproar. And I felt so sorry for the guy because he knew he wasn't anywhere near the rest of them and he seemed pretty gracious and sweet. This Conway situation is now reminding me of it. Yet I don't find myself feeling sorry for these girls. At all. I think they need to quit moaning, listen to what Simon is saying to them and learn to accept criticism whether they like it or not. And there I go again. I'm off.

If Simon has turned his back on them he wants to be careful, some of the evil looks they were giving him and Louis during decision time on Saturday I'd make pretty sure they had no sharp objects to hand if I ever turned my back on them.
Seriously they have not endeared themselves to anyone with their attitude. It's like they think they are already established artists and they don't need or appreciate any advice which sort of begs the question why did they ever enter the X Factor in the first place. That said I have to say I felt sorry for them when their big production of One Voice fell apart last week, it was all wrong and not entirely their fault and while I don't rate them as artists at all I thought the booing on Saturday night was unfair and unnecessary, it wasn't their fault Maria got voted off. |

They deserve to be booed for their arrogance, and because Maria should have stayed instead of them. They should never have been in the competition. The Brothers should have been in instead of them.

IMO both Simon and Louis voted with their heads on saturday night, they voted out possible opposition to their acts in the final, Simon to JS and Louis to his Shayne - if Brenda find herself in that position on saturday night chances are she will go too.

Simon should never have put them in his final four in the first place. They are an established act (in Ireland anyway) and were never going to want to change anything themselves. The material they can do is very limited. And they really weren't that stunning in the auditions. I think he'd have done much better with Eskimo Blonde! Mind you , he did louse it up for 4tune; they could have been so much better with less cheesy songs and look. Poor Simon is struggling with groups!! If he tries to put cardigans on Journey South, watch out.
He can give up now on The Conways and had the perfect opportunity to do so on Saturday, silly fool! |

God, that was longwinded. And if they think the comments/treatment they get from the judges is harsh then really they are trying to make a go of the wrong business! Nothing and no one is harsher that the record buying public when they decide they don't like your work any more and then record company will then drop you like a hot brick. I shouldn't think being told that your shirt is nice (which is what Sharon always seems to fall back on when she can't find anything complimentary to say about the performance!) or being reminded just how much you really want it (which is Louie's fav comment) really helps when the five album dea is disappearing in a puff of smoke! |
