IMO the Best & Worst Performance on last Saturday's XF Show was not Maria - who was somewhere in the middle, it was:

BEST : Shayne
WORST: Chico

Why doesn't that surprise me, not covered by blinkers by any chance are we

I thought JS and Andy were the best

I like Shayne but the last bit was quite bad, and Maria wasn't too good, but already said I thought she was going earlier in the week

On last nights show alone my opinion is

Best= Andy

Shayne
Maria
Journey South
Brenda
Conway Sisters
Chico

Worst= Nicholas

Overall the acts were very poor last night. Andy stood out for me as clearly being the best tho.

Best - Maria (or perhaps Andy).

Worst - Chico (and Nicholas was very poor too).

Best Andy but oh so boring
Worst Nicholas oh so off key the whole song

Chico is a special case. I've gone along with him because i thought he added a much needed fun factor to the show and his performances have been watchable and entertaining tv. But on Staurday he was terrible and proved he CAN'T sing. He also proved that despite his pretensions to do a serious ballad straight he cannot resist the impulse to 'Chico-it-up', the twirl and the winking and leering at the audience a couple of times didn't do the performance any favours. Unlike some acts he does not have the versatility to have it both ways, if he wants to be taken seriously he has to give a serious performance if he wants to fun and entertaining then he shouldn't do ballads.

Andy and Brenda were best, flawless.

The Conways and Nicholas were the worst.

The others were all OK but nothing special:
Maria - bad song choice.
Journey South - too rocky, they need to do harmonies.
Shayne - no need for all that running about. We've heard your falsetto now, you don't have to do it every week!
Chico - is Chico. Entertaining but not to be taken too seriously.

Overall not a great week. The song choices really make a difference, don't they?

Best: Probably Andy, but I did think it was a little boring. Just semed like he's singing the same song every week, but technically, it was really good.

IMO though, there were only three good performances and that was Andy, Maria and Journey South.

The rest were pretty awful. Brenda may have a great voice, but she really needs to step up her game, and show us what she can really do. She's sending me to sleep.

The worst was, by far, Chico. I don't think I need to explain my reasons.

Have now listened to the MP3's (thanks, Deelight ) and Brenda was the best for me on what was a rather poor week. The worst vocal of the night was Nicholas - quite possibly one of the worst vocals I have ever heard on one of these shows. He was so painfully out of tune by the end I just started laughing (it was either that or cry).

For me he's Rosie Ribbons all over again: beautiful vocal tone but can't pitch for toffee when it comes to a live performance - probably the nerves getting to him. The upside is that they can of course correct it in the recording studio and with his looks I can see the potential for marketing him - always assuming there's room for another pretty-boy r'n'b/soul singer - so he could have a great future.

Good luck to him, but I really think he should go soon because these out-of-tune performances ain't doing him any favours.

What are you basing that on (apart from personal preferrence of course)?

Shayne's performance was good, though I hate the song and can't stand all that disjointed stuff. Brenda and Andy out performed him though IMO.

If I was going purely on personal preferrence I would obviously say Journey South were the best, but I can be objective and admit that Andy and Brenda were the best on the night.

Chico's performance wasn't great, but hey he doesn't profess to be a singer and Simon was right, he should play to his strengths, then he does give a good performance.

For me the worst performance was The Conways, these girls are supposed to be able to sing, as yet they haven't given one good performance. All of the others have, even if they didn't last Saturday.

Maria's performance was poor too sadly, she had the wrong song, the wrong genre, if she had stuck with what she does best I doubt she would've been in the bottom two.

I thought Andy's performance was best.

Maria's was pretty poor, but not the worst - I'd say that honour goes to Chico.

The worst for me was Chico. The novelty's worn off now, he's got no talent whatsoever. I thought Andy's was the best

I actually really liked Maria on Saturday.

I really didn't like her before. I thought she showed no personality, and I couldn't warm to her, but after last week, and this week, she showed that not only does she have a terrific voice (probably the best out of the final 12), but she showed that she could perform a song that she really wasn't comfortable with.

The others in her category, mainly Brenda and Andy, seem to sing the same every week, and that's annoying me.

Chico really shouldn't be there. It's a disgrace.

Of course, it's my personal preference and those of the other people watching the show with me.
I agree that Andy was good but I did like him better when he sang the Nat King Cole number. JS is a fave of mine but I didn't think they gave their best performance on Saturday.
The Conways weren't bad and I certainly didn't think they were the worst. That spot was reserved for Chico who I thought gave a diabolical rendition of Hero. This is a show song and reaches a crescendo in the chorus. Chico couldn't lift the chorus and had to rely on the backing group to lift the flat notes. Sadly Chico could not hold a note. It was truly awful but then I've never understood why Chico is in the final. Shayne really did outshine everyone on Saturday - he was wonderful. As you state though, personal preference!!

Poor: Shayne, Nicholas, Chico

Can't believe everyone's rating Journey South - I thought they were the worst performance of the night. Nicholas and Chico were also quite bad.

I actually thought the Conways and Maria were the best, along with Brenda and Andy. Shayne was pretty good, but I didn't like what he did with the song - it should have been sung straight, not danced about to.

That's exactly what he did do last week on 24/7 he said he wanted to sing the ballad to prove that he could sing and then he failed to deliver. I like Chico don't get me wrong, but if he can sing then why is he shortchanging us week after week?

That was exactly my thoughts too. If Chico had really the goods and sung a good ballad then I maybe would have changed my views.
The fact is he didn't deliver and couldn't handle the chorus, which is the highlight of the song. Outside of the chorus it's just talking.
