Don't know if it is just me but I find the show increasingly disappointing this year to the point that I wouldn't be particularly bothered if I miss seeing it again.

There is just no-one that stands out for me and I don't feel that the contestants are being stretched at all in their performances.

Last year I followed G4 and Rowetta with interest particularly to see what songs they (and the others) would attempt and there was much more variation especially as they all had so little time on stage in the first few weeks and had to adapt and shorten the songs they chose.

The contestants really had to make a big impression in a very short time.

I don't feel the same 'buzz' at all this year -maybe that is why we are having all these spats between the judges to try and stimulate interest in the show! Well if so it isn't working for me!

I agree. I have been saying this in several threads that I dont rate any of them and I do not believe that this was the best they could come up with out of 70,000 odd contestants. Certainly no Kylie's or Robbie Williams's among this lot.

The one act that stand's out for me is The Conways simply because they are so bad.

I Don't believe any of the acts this year are anything different in the music world, as I have said in previous posts, Shayne has an average Boyband voice, yet is deemed the favourite to win, Andy is just another Steve B and Brenda is as Simon said " not a recording artist "

I love Shayne's voice and his look but I don't think he's got the X Factor. I think the only person who stands out for me is Chico, now if Shayne had Chico's personality and Charisma he would be unbeatable!!

I think the main person with the XFactor was booted out this weekend.

I agree Chico stands out, but not in the way you mean Dee - he stands out for being so appallingly bad. Z Factor maybe.

Yep, he's not the greatest singer but most of the acts just stand on the stage and look wooden, they have absolutley no stage presence. tbh I couldn't care less who wins, not like last year, but I feel Chico has something different to the others.

If she had the X factor why have so many people overt week's been saying they just didn't get her?

Yes and why was she is in the bottom 2?? I think that by now the acts have built up a fanbase and people will vote for their favourites regardless of song or performance. Maria's fanbase can't have been that big tbh.

I think it would be a whole lot better if they had a different theme each week as they did in Pop Idol. That way everyone would have their ability tested and would be a whole lot fairer and even more interesting. The problem though is that if they used this fomat then Simon Fuller would be on Sycos case.

I feel That both Brenda and Chico have the x-factor, Brenda more so than Chico since she has an outstanding voice and stage presence whereas Chico has more stage presence and less vocal ability than Brenda.

Here's my take on this year's finalists:

- Addictiv Ladies were off key.
- 4Tune are just a bit too 1992.
- Philip seems to have an odd shoulder twitch.
- Chenai has a very obvious speech impediment and a lot of bad notes.
- Maria should have won and was possibly the only finalist with the 'X-Factor.
- Shayne is a good looking guy with no charisma, charm or personality. He has very mediocre singing voice.
- Nicholas has disappointed every week with his lack of effort or style and his dodgy dance moves are a tad off-putting.
- Brenda is a good singer, but she isn't mainstream enough and will probably end up in the Woolies bargain CD bin.
- Andy is very talented but will only ever record songs which appeal to a certain age group.
- Journey South have the potential to be a good rock band. They would have had more chance of success 15 years ago. Their sound is all wrong for today's market.
- The Conway Sisters are completely talentless and it's an absolute joke that they are even in the final 12 of this "competition".
- And finally, Chico. As if there hasn't been enough of a farce this year, we have the 'King of Pap' up there gyrating and screeching his way through every show.

To sum up, X-Factor 2005 (aka Yawn-Factor 2005) is right up there with Big Brother 4 (aka Big Bore 4). It's definitely turn-off TV this year. If they come back with another series next year, I would hope they will include some actual talent!

I completely agree with everything you said.

I thought that Shayne looked like a sure winner after his very first appearance on X-Factor. The trouble is the natural ability he showed on the first occasion has totally disappeared and now he looks very wooden and talentless. I suspect that someone has given him singing lessons and their so-called professional advice.

Great post.

I'd agree with most of it. I think Shayne might be able to turn it round with the right guidance (I'm thinking more Pharrell Williams than Louis Walsh) but he and Maria are the only two with any obvious marketability. Maria was the only one with the potential to sell outside the UK.

I think Brenda (as I keep saying) could shine as a dance music vocalist. She consistently my favourite but you're absolutely right about where she'll end up if they don't find her an angle.

Totally agree, however it's getting huge ratings - so someone likes it.

Without proper guidance, you are absolutely right, they have no chance. At the end of the day, just talent wont get you success. Success comes from a combination of raw talent and good management. Unfortunately, none of the pillocks on the X-Factor seem capable, in my opinion. Either that or, as was suggested in another thread, they have made their money off the phone-ins etc, and they don't really care one way or another if the winner makes a career out of it. Seems to me that Simon hasn't exactly put a lot of backing into the acts he has previously signed from these shows. What does that tell you?

I think that this year's contestant have more of "the x-factor" than last years contestants definately.Last year's were pale in comparison. G4 were by far the best to come out of it but I didnt even like them. Each of this year's contestant's had something good about them except for philip and the conways.

and your point would be???

Do you only talk about programs you like? Isn't that the whole point of a discussion forum? To watch the program then discuss it? Or would you prefer it if we all agreed with you? You are entitled to your opinion, just as I am entitled to mine.
