Just brought the Region-2 version of the first twelve episodes of LOST and just wondered are they cut?

Only reason I wonder is that each episode lasts for 40 mins and the TV version with breaks lasts for 65 mins, and I dont think there are 25 mins of breaks in between.

Anyone help or am I just being paranoid?

All hour long shows in America (except ones on HBO and others which are ad-free) only last about 42 minutes... on Channel 4 the show starts at 10:06 and finishes at about 10.59, ( ) so there's about 11 minutes of ads in total from start to finish. No cuts.

Excellent. Thanks for your help. Only brought the box-set yesterday and never saw it on the TV; watched seven episodes yestersday and really pissed everyone off in the halls of residence by hogging the DVD room until the early hours of the morning! Me and my friend were just glued to the episodes!

My favourite story was Locke's one so far; you just didn't see it coming!

hate to be a pain, but it's BOUGHT not brought.

I managed to let it go untill now but it really annoys me.

and if you see the chewed up pilots body in the tree after the invisable monster eats him then the DVDs are uncut, unlike on ch 4.

dont forget pal is 25 frames per second as opposed to ntsc 24 per second meaning all non pal transfers run about 4% quicker on pal systems.

I hate to be a pain but it's invisible not invisable and also until not untill.

I do let them go though, because we all make them, as you can see.

except they showed the pilot in the late-night (ten o'clock repeats) fully bloody, and up the tree shenannigans

and why should the dvd's be cut anyway?

NTSC actually runs at 29.97fps. Film is 24fps.

Indeed. but the one I was annoyed about was a totally diffrent word being used in place of another, I knew i had spelt invisible wrong but was too lazy to edit it, I missed the other one though, so good on you.

I also spelt Gunpowder wrong on a dvd label this morning, I shouldn't write things straight out of bed.

but back to the brought, this is the one thing I always point out as it seems to be spreading, I even saw it in the sun the other week.

But after pulldown NTSC actually runs at 24fps,thats why Region 1 dvd's last the same length as a cinema presentation, and PAL: stuff is shorter.

It's not like it hasn't happened before! Either accidently (24, Hustle) or to get a lower age rating (Buffy season 3: "Dead Man's Party", which was shown uncut on BBC2 late at night but was cut on DVD to get a 15 rating. Personally, I thought the 18 rating for the uncut version was insane; the BBFC must have had a real bee in their bonnet that day...)

Never mind the spelling mistakes, the thread title should read Are the Lost DVDs cut? or Is the Lost DVD cut?

In fact, the R1(don't know about R2) specs state the pilot is a longer version with never before seen extra footage.

It's buried somewhere between the grammar lessons.

I picked up R1 complete series off a candian site and just sat down and watched the last couple of episodes... brilliant!!!

my biggest issue is the fact that we've been short changed....... half a series for £25 when the US get the complete series for $30.... wish I had picked it up 2 months ago when I was in virgin in downtown disney...... but I've got it now so cant wait to repeat the process whent he series 2 disk come out in the US.
