What a furore there is here about Maria and The Conways.

After watching it,I was left wondering if the brother on the right has any personality whatsoever. The Woodentops would have been more animated.Does anyone else find him distinctly mediocre?

I think Carl is just a very shy person.

He's doesn't only have to think about his singing. He's got his guitar to play as well, and I don't think people realise how difficult it is to do both at the same time.

They are just very different, and I think that's what makes them so special.

Let them choose the songs - not Simon Cowell. Bring back the acoustic guitar. Ditch the backing singers. Do all that and they might just topple Shayne.

I suspect Carl would stuggle on Mastermind - but he's easy on the eye

I think they're great. I'm not bothered if one is a quiet one or not. I love their singing style/voices

I was so reminded of an old time variety act on Saturday where one has all the 'good bits' and the other is the 'stooge'.

Think......Little & Large.

I think they should do stuff they are familier with.. I got the impression that Simon pushed them to do this track and after their performance the week before I think they have showed that they are more than capable of making the right decision about what will go down well.. I must admit I did think in the early days that Karl may be a bit backward but I think he is just a bit shy & introverted - I do think he is the more talented of the 2 he seems to have a better feel for the songs..

What's wrong with being shy? Some of the best and most successful singer/songwriter/guitarists in musical history are painfully shy.

cant stand either of them.

the sun-bed tans, blond hair and permanantly humble "we're so lucky to be here" attitude got old by week 2

Club act.

I'm amazed theyre still in it.

Well I like JS they are the best of the lot imo, but playing devils advocate - its a bit hard to see if someone has the "x factor" whatever that is if they are very shy and rarely speak or show much animation...

They can become the next 'Savage Garden' type duo......one always in the spotlight...the other lurking in the background.

Jealousy is a very sad thing and not becoming.

Aw Joan, I like these boys....I agreed with Sharon about Carl though.....he's very shy, but boy can he sing! He is better than Andy but Andy is a lot happier onstage. Carl will soon get more comfortable as the series goes on.......they've been my dark horses since day 1.

Who you going for this year? My fave is just slightly Brenda.

Hi Karen

Honestly I'm not really that bothered about any of them this year.If I had to choose one it would be Brenda but as SC said on Saturday,I doubt I'd buy her album.
I must say though that it has been a much more pleasant forum to be on this year in comparison to last year.

Take care,Karen

I kind of feel the same Joan. I love Brenda and I kind of hope she DOES get work in the West End. That was not a slant from Simon. I feel it's the best way for her to go. I also like JS and loved Maria too (don't get me started on that! lol). But I would still choose Steve and Ro ahead of everybody from this year.

But I can't help being hooked every week. lol

Hope you're keeping well. We still have to go for that coffee.

I find them both mediocre. They are the kind of act that they have playing in our local wine bar. I think to be taken seriously they should be doing their own material (perhaps they already do, I don't know) A duo like this doing covers of bands like Crowded House and Savage Garden ain't going South or anywhere else IMHO

I'm not sure if they will win, but the acoustic performance they did was great. It really showed that their voices harmonise well together. And it showed that they can actually sing well.

I don't think they should do any more Bon Jovi tunes though. I'd really like to hear them doing 'I still haven't found what i'm looking for', but i suppose that they can't because they've already done U2.

Their local evening newspaper is quoted as having them doing a version of Robbies Angels this weekend... interesting and I think a brave choice if thats the case!

I love them, they are the only hope I have of some decent gutsy music in this XF.

Ok so Brenda and Andy are good, but I've got all the Motown Chartbuster cds that I can listen to in one week.

Shayne is good (and easy on the eye it has to be said), but I won't be hoovering to him crooning on a Saturday morning, I'll never get it done. I love Nicholas' grin, he warms my cockles, but his genre isn't one of my favourites.

Chico is good fun, I love that he's causing such a ruckus, both on forums and on tv, I love it when a plan doesn't come together.

The Conways leave me cold, never had much time for the Nolans or B*witched, and they are a cross between the two, and not even as good as.

JS for me all the way, Carl may be a little shy, but he did have a guitar solo to think about on Saturday night, one which he pulled off well.
