Is the show about talent ?
In my humble opinion, there are 2 flaws in the voting system.
1. The public should be asked to vote for the act they want out, rather than voting for the their favourite. The current system distorts true public opinion as to who is the worst. Lets face it, currently Chico is picking up votes due to his niche/comedy value, while the rest of the public vote for Andy/JS/Shayne. If we were all voting for the least talented, I’m afraid Chico would be long gone. 2. You can’t blame Simon for voting for his own act, but I’m sure he expected Louie (as the independent judge) to make the fairly obvious choice and keep Maria in. The problem is that the competition isn’t just about the acts, its also about each judge trying to win. Hence if a judge is as insincere and shallow as Louie, they will always vote tactically for their own benefit. But the REAL problem: as the voting system is carefully designed to maximise profits from telephone voting, talent takes second place. |

If everyone stopped voting for a week they'd soon change the rules. Start a campaign - no more voting until we get to vote for who we want out!

I'm sure Simon and about 90% of the public thought Louis would save the CS . It is a shame it's not about the best singers winning but I enjoy the show anyway even if Chico won! |
