What data speed do you get?
I'm on Orange 3G and I've used various different speed tests to see what data transfer I get and have had speeds varying from 600-800 kb/s Using a 3G data card in the same area gives speeds of 600- 1400 kb/s Strange seeing as Orange claim 128kb/s average and 384 kb/s theoretical maximum for teh 3G netwrok at present. It seems a bit erroneous but I tried various different tests to try and debunk it and every one came out with a high result so I don't think it's a dodgy test. My theory is it's because I'm in Bristol where Orange test all of their new data type gadgets and there are network enhancements added which haven't been officially announced yet.
So what data speeds does everyone else get? And where are you, is speed dependant on geography? |

If your using "orangeinternet" APN then the data is compressed which fools the speed tests into "thinking" the data is faster than it really is.
However, if you use "orangewap" APN then the data is not compressed and you get a more reliable result. (I'm not saying use orangewap full time, only for speed testing!) |
