Sorry to start a new thread for this, but I couldn't find anything that answered my question!

On Saturday night, Simon made a comment about him not mentoring the Conways, which I assumed referred in some way to him not choosing their song. But, on This Morning today Phillip Schofield also said that Simon wasn't mentoring them any more, Maria was there and didn't correct him.... so is he or isn't he?

If he can't be bothered with them anymore WHY didn't he take the golden opportunity to vote them off on Saturday?

Dunno!

He definately said he wasn't their mentor when Kate asked him for his opinion after they'd sung on Saturday. I assumed it was something to do with them choosing their own song that week, although, why he wouldn't still advise them etc in that situation I don't know.

There's another thread suggesting the CS have quit the show - but it's just rumour at this stage.

I think he said on Xtra Factor that he would be choosing or helping them choose their song this week.

That thread was removed. I would imagine because the OP couldn't substantiate their claim.

My thinking - tinfoil hat time I'm afraid, but bear with me.

JS was left in the "we'll find out after the break" hell spot this week. Next week they'll be up for chucking out, against The Conways. Louis will vote to keep the Conways, thus making sure he can walk the streets of Ireland safely, and also keep the Conways as his close showbiz pals. Sharon will vote to keep JS, and Simon will also vote to keep JS, and then run up onto the stage and physically boot The Conways out the door. It's the only way to get rid of The Conways, by making it Simon's decision.

You read it here first.

Not necessarily. Since the results are 'in no particular order', JS may well have had the highest number of public votes. Doubtful, maybe, but in terms of how Kate reads them out, the last person read out could be the one with the MOST votes.

(Incidentally, the Conways have been the last name called out more than once, and two weeks ago they were dire, and yet were called out first!) So it's all random and the order they're called out in doesn't reflect how popular, or otherwise, they are with the public. Obviously, the two who are not called out are the lowest, though the contest with the actual lowest votes presumably isn't always the one to leave either.

I agree with you, I know it's in random order, but usually they try to leave it so that there is one of each judges in the final three. I think they did it that way to put in the public's mind that JS aren't untouchable, so that it wouldn't be such a "whoah!" to see JS at the bottom. I think all connected with the show want CS out, and this is they way that they will do it.

(I told you it was a bit "tinfoil hat"!)

Yeah, that's true - they do arrange the order to amp up the tension. They then will always ask the judges who have acts in the bottom two first, so that there is even more tension with the unpredictable deciding vote.
