To those moaning about Maria
I just have to ask one thing "Did you vote for her?

Because if all these people moaning had voted she wouldnt have been in the bottom two would she.

I suspect that a fair few did vote for her!

But I'm with BurlyBeaR.... there's nothing like a good moan! And not voting shouldn't prevent people from doing that.

I certainly thought Maria was by far the best contestant.
Obviously against the background of the other contestants I might be crediting her with more talent than she has. Then again, her version of "You're Beautiful" sounded pretty close to perfection - so maybe not.

As for voting for her....behave yourself. I don't waste my cash on phone calls to vote for talent show contestants. Simon Cowell has quite enough cash, without me helping out.

What about the people who arent on this forum that never voted for Maria? Most of Maria's fans on here did indeed vote yes.

Well i voted for her, but as soon as she started singing that 'brown sugar' song i knew she wouldnt get very many votes. The majority of people who vote wont have even heard of that song. That makes a massive impact IMO.

I dont think she performed badly, she sounded good, the song just wasnt very catchy. If they wanted her to do rock then they shoul've got her to do a Tina Turner song like 'River deep, mountain high'. It would have been more suited to her style.

The song is a classic but the Marias' rendition of it was not.

CoralB, how old are you? How many times are you going to post that as an EXCUSE simply because YOU (and probably your circle of friends) haven't heard the song?

It's one of the biggest songs by one of the biggest rock acts of all time. Both the song and the act wipe the floor with Tina Turner in terms of sales and popularity.

Get used to it. The song lyric, even with changes, was inappropriate for any girl, let alone a black girl, to be singing but that does not detract from the fact that even her so-called fans couldn't muster up the enthusiasm to vote for her, never mind any neutrals.

I dont see the need for you to get so nasty. At the end of the day I really wont be losing sleep over Maria's career (or lack of it). Therefore i really dont undersatnd why you think attacking me about her success will bother me in the slightest. X-factor might have a significant affect on your life, but thankfully im not as psychologically disturbed as you seem to be.

I dont deny that the song Brown Sugar is considred to be a classic rock song, and many people of your considerable age will love it im sure (Although your love for it seems to be a bit too excessive).

However, you're forgetting that the majority of voters will be school children who probably wont listen to the rolling stones very often. The stones are not played on commercial radio and school children will not be familiar with their music. It is obvious then that this song wont be as familiar to them as it is to old people.

Simon Cowell hit it on the head when he said that she just isn't dirty enough to carry off a rock song. I like her, and contrary to what others said I thought she held the tune pretty well - but the visual aspect of that performance wasn't convincing.

Still a million light years ahead of the Conway Sisters, though. Every week, when that tatty bunch finish yelping at the moon, I expect to see Marti Caine flounce onto the stage (reference to an old tv talent contest called New Faces, for those who don't understand).
