This is just a little something that I wondered about before. A lot of people are upset with the fact Nana Moon will be leaving, but... who made the decision for her to be killed off?

Did Hilda decide that she wanted to rest from acting, so quit the soap. Or was she one of the many good characters to be axed from the show?

i think she was axed because there was no moons left to look after her

She was axed soon after Shane Richie quit. So Shane's put Hilda out of a job now.

Well done Shane. She could have moved in with the Slaters. There was absoultely no need to kill her, she could have just went to live with Maxwell and returned at some other point. Or she could have died with Maxwell and had an offscreen death - it's going to be so upsetting!

But partially the reason was Hilda was getting quite forgetful (forgetting lines and turning up to work late).

Well There's always a bed in Charlie's home. Where else, realistacly could she have went to stay in the soap? Maybe Peggy would have offered her somewhere to stay, or Pat for god's sake. Rattling around in that house on her own - unless Billy stays with her.

Is she ill in real life then? But she's old. Forgetting her lines and turning up late isn't a reason to sack her. She remembered her lines pretty well on the latest episodes she has been in.

Once Shane went she HAD to go. There is no way in the world nana would ever be parted from Alfie, so she either had to go with him or die. I'm guessing the reason they are killing her off is so they can use her death to get Kat and Alfie back together (bonding during tragedy etc). At least that's how I assume it's going to work.

i dont think hilda's lined up for any other roles as far as im aware atm, so you'll more than likely be seeing her down the post office collecting her pension and keeping a hold of the money from now on.

Well she's been acting for years and she does need a rest. I hope it's not for long though, I love Hilda Braid.

I can't believe how everyone is blaming Shane Ritchie Its not his fault. He has as much right as anyone to leave the show whenever he wants

Anyway, if Nana was to stay, people on here would just be moaning about how she has nothing to do and that there was no point in her staying when Alfie left. She is very rarely in it now anyway before this current story

It's also rubbish to say no1 in the square could have her. Alfie could leave Maxwell a message saying his leaving nana in the square! A NEW CHARACTER AS WELL! but no EastEnders has to kill her off!

It's his life and does that mean he should stay unhappy and carry on in EE just because Hilda might be axed,

Remember her in Citizen Smith as Wolfie's girlfriend's mother - she always used to call him Foxie.

They decided that Alfie wouldn't go anywhere without Nana. So rather than take Nana with him they've decided to leave her behind in the ground...

No he hasnt put her out of a job, i cant believe your trying to pin it on him, so what if he wants to leave, thats not his fault if the writers have decided to let Hilda go. We leave our jobs everyday, so why shouldnt he?

I read that the reason why Hilda is leaving is because she is beginning to forget her lines and she isnt sure what scenes shes meant to be in, so the producers have decided that its time for her to have a little rest, shes now 73 and most likely wont be doing many more things, so its as though EE are finally laying her acting career to rest

I have no idea if that is true about Hilda forgetting her lines but she seemed to do a pretty good job on on Friday, she was outstanding, in fact IMO she outshone Shane.

73 is not that old - June Brown is older than her and still doing great.

But they had no choice but to axe nana when Alfie went. Despite what others have said there is no way they could have her stay on the square without him, he would NEVER leave her. So the only choice was whether they sent her with him, or killed her off. Either way she had to get the chop.

By the way, can someone refresh my memory how Danny and Jake are related to Nana Moon?

Now we know that she and her William had the briefest of relationships, producing just Alfie Senior, I have been trying to work out where they fit on the Moon family tree.
