Only really happens to E4+1,it might be because I have a weak signal, but not too sure.

The Humax F2-FOX T used to be prone to this sound delay, it appeared to happen after a change to the local transmitter frequency's.
A factory reset to factory defaults to clear/clean channels seems to cure the issue until the next transmision changes.

I'm having frequent problems at the moment with the audio being slightly out of synch from time to time. Nothing seems to have been posted on this particular thread for a year, so I assume this isn't a common problem with the 9200.

Prior to getting the 9200, I've been watching Freeview from day 1 with various boxes and only rarely had problems, and usually its been on the likes of E4, More 4 or The Hits/TMF.

Now, I'm finding programmes on the BBC being very marginally, but still irritatingly, out of synch.

Anyone have any particular thoughts on this?

Have you tried a reset to default settings

We recently had to exchange a Toshiba 23WLT56 LCD television with integrated freeview for a customer who could not live with the lip-sync problems . On occasions the BBC channels could be out by as much as 3-4 seconds ( yes it really was as bad as that ! ) , interestingly we tried a Humax LU23 running at the same time ( on the same aerial ) and that was very nearly perfectly in time . When we tried the other Toshiba models in the shop they would ( at various times ) too vary from fairly close to massively out of sync . I personally think it was a problem with the transmitter as we have since sold all the sets in question and had no other complaints .

Some of the lip-sync errors do seem to be caused by the processing required to generate the display on the LCD sets , as the early ( analogue only ) models would often show rather big time delays between the sound and picture , yet we have had very few complaints . One or two customers have mentioned it in passing , but the Toshiba was the first set that the customer could not live with .

The '56' series of Toshiba TV's are actually made by Vestel and are not that great anyway , but the new '68' Regza models are stunning , I'd buy one myself if only the IDTV section didn't appear to be the same Vestel module as fitted to the budget models . Anyone know what the regularity of updates for these modules is , is it as good as Humax ? I've not seen a single update for one of these units in 2 years or so of selling them . Of course they may work so well out of the box that they don't need them ...

Lip-sync error is a widespread problem and three companies have produced digital audio delays to correct it since the audio delay in most av receivers is inadequate for this purpose.

Here is a review of all three:

http://www.audaud.com/article.php?ArticleID=3011

The key feature is being able to adjust the delay while watching without any menus overlaying the screen and having enough delay.

I have the DD740 listed in the review but it only cost $199 now not $249 as shown.

That's quite a major delay, but I also notice lesser echo effects between the Humax/TV in one room, the Daewoo STB/TV in another, and the Freeview card in my PC. Quite obvious if you stand mid-way. I put it down to different microprocessor speeds in the three systems.

Makes me think accurate time from the TV is a thing of the past.

Given the complexity of routing audio and video down different paths and the overhead of encoding, decoding and recombining the signal, this is a sufficiently common problem for audio and video sync to be included in the HDMI 1.3 specification. I think we're all going to have to live with lip-sync issues for now.

HDMI 1.3 Released 22 June 2006.
Incorporates automatic audio syncing (Audio video sync) capability.

This has been annoying me for ages now with my 9200T. I thought it might be due to having the audio from the stereo output and the video via scart (I use my hi-fi). The delay is about 300ms or so - not that bad but enough that you notice.

I wonder, of the people on this forum who are having this problem, how many use audio on a hi-fi and how many through Scart on the TV?

That's plausible. Easy test is to use the TV's sound out to your hi-fi rather than the Humax's.

BBC1 news this morning was out, not by much but enough to irritate so I switched to the internal digital tuner on my samsung to find that was out too.
