I have just lost all respect I ever had for this man. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds26192.html He calls X Factor fake, saying it's just about television and not music. Well it makes for excellent television in my opinion, and there are some highly talented people on the show which makes it music.

He also said that they deluded Michelle into thinking she could sing and win the X Factor. Well what about the people at home voting for her to win? I thougnt she had a great voice - and I'm not deluded. If she was a size 10 with blonde hair and big tits, would she be a success then?

I hope I never see Pete on TV again.

This is Pete Waterman who single handedly destroyed the chance of 5 talented boys having any sort of career by making them release 80s reject singles after PSTR.

P*ss off back to obsurity Pete

He's only telling the truth what we all suspected.

Eh? Pete Waterman was SPOT ON about Michelle! He knew that she couldn't cut it in the music industry - and hey presto, he's been proved correct. I have far more time for Pete than any of the current judges.

he is right , its just about TV and entertaining the kiddies

its not about music or talent anymore, if it was we would not have had to suffer chico after the first week

I think he was right about Michelle I never liked her voice to whinny and I hated her facial expressions, Simon only wanted her to win as an experiment because Ruben won american idol (who was very big ) as pete said she was used I would have prefered Andy Scott - lee or Sam Nixon had won

I admire Pete Waterman. He was one of the most powerful men in pop. I wonder how many ferraris the writers of these "hilarious" what about >insert 80's band here< they were bad type posts have bought(...collectively even ) as I'm quite sure he has bought more in one day (Pete Waterman bought 18 in one day....not bad for a former miner and grave digger who left school at 15 without having learnt to read or write )...Those crappy 80's tunes don't seem like such a bad idea now do they?

oh and I think he is correct about X Factor as well.

Pete Waterman was to British pop music what crack dealers are to the pharmaceutical industry.

The Ferrari maketh not the man.

fact is...i would imagine many people would like to be in his financial situation. yet they will make fun of the songs and acts that got him there. im sure if they had the ability to make the money and be as succesful as he has by releasing songs aimed at a young market they would....i mean the majority of rap acts have a similar demographic.
he was just doing it for the kids... oh and please tell me you wouldn't like to own a shiny new ferrari (or 18)....and please tell me you wouldn't like to have an estimated fortune of £45 million. ...now ask yourself what you would be prepared to do for that kind of financial security... suddenly the perspective kicks in.

Sure, I'd sell them all to Pete Waterman and buy myself a second hand beatle and a house.

Then I'll ask myself, would I expect the condemnation of genuine music lovers like JonDoe? - Yes I would.

Would it be worth it? - Probably yes.

Doesn't make Pete Waterman any less of a whinging parasite.

At least Pete Waterman is saying it as it is!! Don't knock Pete, he is Simon Cowell's mentor. BTW he was spot on about Michelle. Seems like Pete is an honest guy!!

Waterman IS a genuine music lover. He also has flaws like any human....but he has been very succesful in his career and he has kept relatively down to earth about it. unlike his protoge Simon Cowell.
I think he makes a valid point about pop idol 2 and in retrospect i can see that Pete was keeping it real and being honest with his feelings about michelle mcmanus....i don't think cowell can say the same.

I guess it depends on your definition of 'music'.

Michelle won PI2, not X Factor

Whatever people say or like to believe about themselves, they are swayed in these shows by what the judges say. Michelle was hyped by the judges from early in the competition when it was decided that it may be good PR to have an atypical girl winning. Pete was the only judge who didn't. He even went as far as to walk out when her victory was announced, so incensed was he by what had so blatantly happened.

Simon has admitted that he manipulated the result by his comments about Michelle in order to persuade people to vote for her. He has since admitted that he regrets using Michelle as a guinea pig and that he has learnt his lesson that you can't force a winner on the public (the same lesson that I hope the people behind FA2 are now learning).

Pete was supposed to be a judge on X Factor instead of Louis but had to pull out because his son was terminally ill. I would have been interested to see whether he would have come back for a second series after Sharon's mature behaviour last year that she is carrying on with this year.

Totally off topic I know, but you mention FA2. Does anyone know how Alex Parks did with her recent album release?

It went in at No 24 (c25000 copies) and then fell to 50 the following week (c12000 copies). I don't know where it is this week, if it's still in the top 75/100.

That's a shame. I never really liked her much and don't think she should have won but it's still disappointing.
