havent bought one, but would like one, its better than my philips.
i think it would be a hard choice between the Pioneer and the Panasonic 42PV500, i would go for the one you like the look of best, and the cheapest. Myself, i would go for the Panasonic |

Have not got the 436 XDE but I have the 435 and it is superb.
Only two areas that could be improved on: the contrast and the number of digital inputs and both have been addressed in the 436. Saw the 436 at the What Hi Fi sound and Vision show at the beginning of November being fed from an HD source and the image quality was breathtaking. |

Just got one
I have just got the PDP 436XDE and have to say it is great could not ask for a better plasma. Just changed from a JVC plasma basically for the HD inputs.
The only thing I am having a problem with is the pc card slot. But hope to get that sorted. |

Just a note, the Panasonic HD range is much deeper at the base of the television - Have a look before you purchase.
Also, the Pioneer has two HDMI inputs which may be useful in the future - such as SKY HD and DVD. |
