Simon missed a great chance

He could have voted the Conways out on Saturday, as he said after there performance, they had chosen for him not to be there mentor that week so he was an impartial judge, wouldn't you have loved to have seen the expression on Lead Harpies face if he'd sent them home, I personally would have paid good money to see it

He would be stupid to vote one of his acts out. Can you imagine the other 2 doing it?

Nah I think letting Louis keep the Conways in has generated far more publicity for the show, which is what it's all about really.

If I was one of the Conways and our mentor voted us out (regardless of Simon not having chosen their song last week, he is still their mentor and has said he will be working with them on this week's song) I'd make sure his feet didn't touch the ground. There are no depths in this earth that I wouldn't dig dirt out from if he did something like that to me.

Simons cred as an unbiased fair judge would have shot up, and he would have been beyond critisism for the rest of the show. he is a fool.

Good point Kat3000 but in reply to soulfulman:

Chico - vocally no though he still had something he has that Maria probably most lacked of all the contestants
Nicholas - very definitely yes
Conways - their second best performance of the series vocally and the most comfortable they've looked on stage

BTW I'm surprised with your username that a performer as cold and soulless as Maria appealed to you.

Totally agree with this; Simon has no interest in The Conways, he doesn't like them either personally or proffessionally. He had a golden opportunity to vote them off without seeming too callous as they had refused to work with him that week and his credibility among those of us who actually believe that this competition should be about the most talented act winning would have rocketed!!

However part of me thinks that every time the ratings dip a bit against "Strictly Come Dancing", some controversy mysteriously arises on X Factor.....

Could it be that those who think Simon would have done wonders for his credibility by voting out one of his own acts are Maria fans?????

More than likely.

And i'm sure that if he had voted out the Conways (which for a moment i thought he was going to do) there are forum members who would have been baying for his blood and complaining about him not supporting the acts he's supposed to be mentoring. I have absolutely no issues with Simon voting in the Conways' favour on Saturday night.

Louis did vote one of his own acts out. he dumped Chenai, I know she was up against another of his but he had more grounds to go to a public vote than when they offered Sharon it a couple of weeks earlier.

The outcome would have probably been the same if he had gone to the public vote.

Unlike Sharon, Louis didn't keep the attention on himself for 10 minutes only to pick a contestant for the lamest reason in the book.

Well here's hoping they dip low enough for them to have controversially eliminate Shayne
