Ive always found the idea of Dev being this lothario that women can't resist hillarious. He's a slimey creep and he makes my skin crawl. I can't fathom what on earth Sunita sees in him.

and see how Tony Stewart from The Mirror thinks it's one of this years best storylines.

I had the dubious honour of working with Mr Stewart very briefly at 'The Mirror', and you know what? He ain't all that!

The Dev storyline is so badly constructed that it is hilarious in it's execution. It fits in, a propros with erm, absolutely nothing!

If this story isn't over by Friday I will stop watching. It is ridiculous. Corrie has become a complete joke. Grr

It is silly. But what would be funny is if Sunita gave birth to twin girls!

The most bizarre thing is, what connection did Dev have to these women anyway? These shops were all owned by Mr Desai (Nita & Vikram's dad) until he sold the businesses to cousin Dev however many years back that was! Was Dev like some kind of area manager for his uncle, but went around impregnating them all. Amber is in her teens (at a guess?) and Corrie seem to be suggesting Dev has been impregnating his girls all these years when they weren't even *his* girls!

EDIT- just read the Corrie Story book by Daran Little and the Desais joined in 1999 when Ravi, owner of 6 corner shops, planted his daughter Nita in Fred's shop as a spy in order to place a low bid on the business. Ravi's brother died and he was forced to sell all seven of his shops to his cousin Dev Alahan.

I really don't know if this is so unlikely. Lets lok at a few things

Burning Shops:
Dev went rushing round looking after many of the shop-owners on the night and in subsequent weeks. Obviously he got calls from many of the shops and went round to get the people out.
As soon as he knew Maya was with Sunita he rushed back there, and was subsequently knocked out. On the night there is nothign to suggest that he didn't check people weren't OK or indeed safe. After the event we only saw him deal with Sunita, but again there is nothing to suggest that he didn't pay some attention to his other shops and indeed the workers there. WHile Sunita was scared in her flat we didn't see much of Dev at all so why are we all assuming that he didn't visit the other shops

Womanising Dev
Before getting together with Sunita Dev was a bit of a smoothy lets admit it. A little bit of Deridre, a little bit of Tracy... he made Lou Bega look chaste. There is nothing to say that he wouldn't see a woman for a while and then move on. He has provided for them, shop and flat, and has no necessary connection to them. He clearly wants a son and has not got one as yet. Dev is looking for his male heir.

Dev's voice:
well even I have no explanation for this...

Sunita does love Dev because he delivered her from teh pressure of her family and her arranged marriage. Fair enough he has his secrets behind him, but I don't think that it is completely unlikely and if you were asked who is likely to have a litter of kids that we don't know about we probably would have said Dev second after the original lothario Mike Baldwin.

The future story won't be Dev getting to know all of his kids, I eckon only Amber will stay around. It is not exactly full of holes the plot. It is one that perhaps has been well hidden by Dev, but is neither impossible or improbable given Dev's background and character.

What gets me is comments that are merely provocative and unhelpful. If you are going to stop watching a story then either do so, or provide adequate reasons for bothering to come on and tell everyone about it. Why on earth is "Corrie a complete joke now?" such commetns I find are not provided with the intent of facilitating conversation but instead to promote the disquiet that has been creeping in on the threads for a while now.

Yeah I never thought of that! I also think that the actor who plays Dev is awful he struggles to get his lines out.

Just thought I'd bump my addition further along, it clearly states that Dev wasn't in charge until 1999/2000 so he really is a bounder to have been impregnating Ravi Desai's shopgirls!

Wasn't Dev rich before he got the shops. He then used the shops to contain his brood of women.... I think he had a chain of shops in Birmingham before he moved to Weatherfield. Not sure, but Trixie you're right in saying its a good point.

Maybe he will explain later on about how it all come about. But still that is quite a thing to have missed even for Corrie.

Not sure about the intenation of "even for Corrie".

I suppose we can always say that before Dev arrived on the Street, (the programme), we don't know what he did or much about where he came from. He might indeed have gone round impregnating Ravi's shop assistants, but I thin that it was probably more the other way round that he placed them in the shops after he bought them from Ravi

Good theory Nancy. As long as they aren't from his Birmingham shops because that would be pretty bizarre him moving all his tribe up to Manchester!

Once Tony Wood buggars off, as labour said in 1997, "things can only get better"

What a hastily put together storyline. I'm shocked. I'm even more shocked that Norris didn't know all about it. He knows just about everything else that goes on in the Street.
