Been digging around and found this on Walford Web re Branning family...
April Branning (Debbie Arnold)
c1995-6
April was Carol Jackson's sister and appeared in Albert Square in the mid 90's; she worked in the Bridge Street Café. April was close friends with Michael Rose but no relationship developed. Eventually, she & her former fiancee reconciled, & following their marriage, April moved to Greece with him.
Derek Branning (Terence Beesley)
1996
Carol Jackson's unpleasant older brother, Derek shared father Jim's racist tendencies, & was a nasty sot who still lived at home with his parents. He did everything in his power to instigate a fight with Alan Jackson & break up the relationship with Carol, but never succeeded. Only seen during the period leading up to the Alan & Carol nuptials.
Doreen Branning (d.) (Joy Graham)
1996
1st wife of Jim Branning & mother of Carol Jackson, Doreen was seen in the episodes leading up to the Carol & Alan nuptials. Although Doreen didn't share husband Jim's prejudices, she usually didn't do much to combat them either. She died offscreen circa 2000.
Previous surname(s): unknown
Dot Branning (June Brown)
1985 to present, with gaps
A long-time fixture on the Square, Dot has had a hard row to hoe. Her often-absentee husband Charlie (deceased) and her nasty son Nick (who attempted to murder her for her bingo winnings) made her life a constant trial for decades. Grandson Ashley was a comfort for a short while, but Nick ruined that, too, when Ashley inadvertently stepped into the lethal trap Nick had set for Mark Fowler.
In 2001 Dot had to deal with the death of lifelong friend Ethel Skinner; despite Dot's devout Christian beliefs, she could not stand to see Ethel suffer, and left sleeping pills within Ethel's reach. Afterwards, when Jim Branning came courting, Dot was at a very low point. Eventually his persistence and obvious affection for her won out, and Dot became Mrs Branning on Valentine’s Day 2002.
She has since settled nicely into the role, and Jim's devotion to her during her bout with cancer (and the resultant surgery) finally convinced her that his love was true. She enjoys being Sonia's surrogate grandmother, and has taken Dennis Rickman under her maternal wing. In one of the more touching storylines of late, we have seen Dot and Dennis enjoy a mother/son relationship neither enjoyed with their biological counterparts. Recently, she has kept busy by overcoming her prejudices (illustrated by her growing friendship with Pat Evans), learning to drive and dispensing advice - and a Bible verse or two - to friends.
Previous surname(s): Cotton
Jim Branning (John Bardon)
1996 to present, with gaps
Viewers first met Jim Branning as the racist father of Carol Jackson. When she left the Square leaving behind two of her children, Sonia and Robbie, Jim abandoned his nursing home in favor of family life and found new love in the form of Dorothy Cotton, now his wife. Although they were happy enough, Dot's extended absence around the time of their first wedding anniversary opened the door for Doris, a geriatric Fatal Attraction. Since Dot's return to Walford, Jim has settled happily into married life.
Jim spends a lot of his time knocking around the Square with Patrick Trueman, and was responsible for Patrick's ultimately getting together with his wife, Yolande, after Jim wrote to Yolande pretending to be Patrick. Jim places bets at the bookies and sneaks extra pints, all the while evading the watchful, disapproving gaze of Dorothy. He is currently building a relationship with Dennis Rickman, who Dot has taken under her wing, and has recently took in lodger, Naomi Julien, without clearing it with Dorothy first.
Sue Branning (Julie Christian-Young)
1996
Another Branning sister, seen at the wedding of Carol & Alan.
Seems like 3 daughters and one son...
