andrewd_1984 "They would have to much of an unfair advantage"

Advantage in terms of what? If someone was put back into the house, they would be taken out again; to suggest that someone could be nominated again and evicted twice is totally ludicrous!lol!
You could say the same for Tim,

He was able to watch BB on TV, read articles in newspapers...Tim knew exactly what was going on in the house, he had opions on everybody...he knew Sophie had a crush on Lee and Spencer and Kate were an item and he also knew a lot about certain HM's back stabbing.

So if Spencer was to return, he would be in a similar position as Tim...he would not be allowed to discuss any aspect of what he has ssen or heard since his eviction

I don't think it'll happen......but if it did I'd choose Anna (BB1) who shd have won BB1 anyway! She was sooo funny without trying. Intelligent humour; something thats been sadly lacking in BB3

Yes, bring back Anna! She was fab. Although whether she would want to put herself through it all again is another question...

The people who enter the Big Brother House do so completely voluntarily. However, for security reasons the front door is remotely locked. There is an opening device by the door in case of emergency. Occupants leave the House in three ways. They may be evicted, they can leave of their own free will, or they may be required to leave by the producers. Once an occupant leaves, for whatever reason, they forfeit any claim to the prize money.

That is from the rules posted on the BB website. Also would all the people who voted to get the HM evicted have a valid claim for a refund of voting costs.
It would be highly unfair to the existing HMs as the returning HM would know exactly how the public viewed everyone.

i'd imagine that if someone went back in it would only be for a few days - a flying visit if you like just to make it more interesting. they wouldn't be allowed to nominate, or be nominated and would be gone by the next eviction. that's the only way i reckon it could work...

Couldn't agree more
To solve the 'too many people' problem he could just stay for a couple of days/1 week - enough time to stir things up and make them more interesting but he wouldnt be able to win. It would be very interesting to see how people reacted towards him knowing that he has now seen them in the true colours (Jonny) and the whole Kate/Alex thing.

under these conditions, why should any returnee go back into the house? There's nothing in it for them apart from a bit of extra exposure and a lot of aggro! In particular, I can't see the most commonly mentioned candidate, Spencer ("I'm indifferent, actually") going for it in any way shape or form.

I can't see how this idea would work, especially so late in the game. Maybe the producers are gathering ideas for next year with the poll on the site, taking advantage before interest fades at the end of the show?

Although an ex HM couldnt discuss anything, they could use a lot of inuendo and code or even suck up to the favourite. Just by their behaviour could give loads of clues as to how the public see them outside.
Anyway could they be trusted not to say anything - after all they have nothing to lose!!

OK different question. If you were an evicted / walked housemate would you go back in just to stir things up?

I'm not sure that I would, I wouldn't feel that I belonged ( which I wouldn't ). The others would be the final 5 then 4 & would have a certain bond which would exclude me.

The rules state that any HM who leaves the house forfeits any claim to the prize money. So that actually helps to clear the way for a returning HM - there'd be no complaints about unfair advantage etc. If they can't win they can't win. Anything they tell the existing HMs is only going to be an extension of the crowd reaction they hear every Friday or the occasional shout over the wall. "Spencer" (for example) would be told not to discuss the outside world, like all contestants, but occasional comments may slip out. No more advantage either way however as it's similar to shouts over the wall or things that Tim or Sophie could have told them.

Why would a HM return to the house, even if they knew they couldn't win? Because they're being paid a salary as an Endemol employee?

There's no reason why the producers can't tear the rules up as they see fit, after all this series is all about BB being "different" and "full of surprises". And if the returning HM was ruled out of the prize plus any nominations, I don't think anyone could complain about wasted votes 3 or 4 weeks ago as the returnee actually has little influence over the final outcome. I think this sounds like a good idea, certainly exciting and different anyway.

Allison loved it and would go back any day, Lee would probably, Sunita wouldn't, Spencer would to bot Kate and Sophie probably would.
How do you know they would want to go back in? If I had been evicted, I don't think I'd want to go back in. I can't imagine any ex HMs wanting to back in, any thoughts?

If its going to happen it may well be Alison. If you noticed, she is doing alot of work for BB, she has even got her own advert now set outside the house and she openly said she would jump at the chance to go back in on BBLB, maybe that gave them an idea.

I'm not sure Spencer would go back... would anyone go back now? It's so late in the series. Plus, anyone who does go back will be at an advantage of seeing what everyone inside is *really* like.

If you spent your 25p voting someone out, wouldn't you be a tad annoyed if BB then put them back in?

It won't happen. The only way it would was if there was a second BB house that the evictiees went to. An idea for a future year (BB7 maybe) a much tougher divide i.e. no contact, or start with two smaller houses then merge them after 3 weeks and sit back and enjoy the fireworks.

What they could do, is have 1 ex-housemate that they receive a broadcast from on the plasma screen (or maybe, can talk to for half an hour in the diary room). I doubt they would even do this though.

One of the scandanavian ones (sorry)

A couple got split up (helen and paul style) and they bought the guy back because of overwhelming public opinion....

The polls on channel 4's official BB site are sugestions from Joe Public so not the greatest source of valid speculation Re:
Old housemates returning to the house. It is quite a funny idea though and if it were to happen I'd like it to be PJ because Saturday's task was grossly unfair

For the second day running BB have ran a news item about past housemates. This has led me to believe, once more, that I feel sure that an ex-housemate will enter the house this weekend. Feel free to laugh at me if I'm wrong.

Here's a confusing thought...

Rather than bringing in an old HM, why not "swap" Kate for 2 minutes:

-Kate goes into the diary room, and does her bit to BB
-Kate's identical twin sister is let back into the house, without Kate knowing
- Twin sister comes out of the diary room, walks around the (totally off-their-faces-after-6-bottles-of-wine-each) HMs
- Twin sister leaves house
- Kate is let back into house

How wierd would that be??

I don't like this idea at all.

But if they are willing to place a housemate in the house for 48 hours then I think they should put all the housemates back in just to see what would happen. Imagine the arguments, it would make great TV.
