Help with wap message - "Try this"

About three weeks ago my Virgin Mobile Sony Ericsson T610 received a message saying "Try this". It automatically opened itself (grrr!) and started downloading something. I quickly cancelled it but now I've got a text envelope with a small "w" in the top right hand corner which won't go away. Other ordinary text envelopes come next to it so it doesn't get overwritten if someone texts me either. Does anyone know what this is, where it came from and how to get rid of it? Hubby's identical mobile has the same thing too!

Just go into messages then Wap Push Messages then delete the message as you would an ordinary sms message.

I thought I'd already tried that but I obviously hadn't. It's worked! Thanks!

Nope. The envelope with a 'w' on it is different to an mms alert. The 'w' stands for Wap.

I had that last week. It was just a message from Virgin promoting picture messaging. It wouldn't have cost anything to receive.

If you want to disable these WAP push messages on a T610.
Go to Messaging, scroll down to WAP push, select it, scroll to Allow push, select it , scroll to Never, and select it.
Then (still in WAP push). go to Clear inbox and click YES.
Don't select Inbox, or you might end up being charged for a ringtone you don't want.
That should stop them. Good luck!
