X-FACTOR Has the Format Started to become Tired?

X-Factor

It all started in 2000/2001 with Popstars the first television created band, Hearsay which have now split after 2 years of "success", Than we had pop-idol, Will young, Gareth Gates, Darius and others have all become part of the big time, but here is where i feel it all started to Fall Apart Pop Idol 2, Michelle McManus Disappeared into Obscurity, One True Voice from Popstars the Rivals, (Although Girls Aloud are a Big exception...) Steve from the X factor last year has also......gone.

I Believe that the Format has tired, Simon Cowell obviously did not live up to his promises with steve. Steve being a classic example of the Format beginning to Die. I also feel that this could be the last X-Factor for a long time.

Im Not trying to be pessimistic or any of that, I watch the show myself, even though its not as entertaining when the Format was first Realised, I still enjoy it, but really, Its time to lay X-Factor to rest, and save another member of the Public being Humiliated and to fade into obscurity, because of thier dreams being crushed by ITV.

Discuss, Do You think the Format is Tiring?

The format admittedly is old and has been used many times before, but I watch shows like X Factor and Pop Idol etc to see what happens through the weeks that the acts are actually on the show, not what happens after they have one it. I used to buy pretty much every single one of these so called 'winners' released now I don't bother. I just watch for the wekly performances and scandals. (and Chico's body )

They have definitely killed the golden goose to make a big omelette of the golden eggs. They have milked the format until it's developed mastitis.
I may be wrong but the voting figures announced on the show at the end "over a million" trills Kate seem to me to be way down on last year's. Overkill, tv has become flooded with copies of copies of reality talent shows. Wannabe models, actors, singers and chefs all have their own versions and then we have Big Brother and Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. The winners are incidental it's the soap opera style drama leading up to it that becomes the focus and the outcome just becomes one big anti-climax, of course the public are becoming burned out and jaded.

They need us to vote who we want off - not who to keep. It would change the whole dynamic..

is it because we've sussed the judges tactic for getting an
act in the bottom two..giving them sing an unsuitable song?

They were planning to use the "vote to go" rather than "vote to stay" option in Pop Idol but they didn't because it would result in the least unpopular rather than the most popular winning.

I have to admit i like X Factor becasue the format is a bit more exiting than the other shows that there are, like with the judges vote and bickering, but for me it's about the TV and the judges!

I have really got bored this time around. Having watched all the previous. So now just taping the results part only....and fast forwarding this to the very final result.

There seems to be a lot of judges decisions not neccessarily being based on the performance...Walsh!!!!

But I almost wonder if this is deliberate. Contraversy does get people talking and papers printing.

Roll on the start of THE JUNGLE on Sunday!!!!

It's Soap Opera (no not the FM outa GD ) by another name. All the drama and cliffhanging finales that goes into the making of Corry and EE, are all to be found in the format.

As long as reality TV attracts a fairly good slice of the ratings, then the broadcasters will continue to make 'em.

They have done a great deal of backtracking on this subject. By this stage of the competition, the 'judges' have always said that general public have already chosen their favourites come what may! I think the final two acts are in place - whatever song they may sing each week. As for the others, it's just a matter of who leaves in which order - again, making very little difference to what they may sing.

I do belive that Hear'say would have been a top band if Kym Marsh didn't leave. That's why they have gone. Not because of records sales.
